Speaking of jurisdiction, how does that work with oil tankers sailing off other countries?

I mean, if the Duchy of Grand Fenwick imposed sanctions on Ruritania due to some disagreement they decide to classify as terrorism, and then goes and grabs Ruritania's oil tanker as it leaves Venezuela, is that OK? Is there a legal difference here, rather then just a difference in having the means to do it?

Finland detained a tanker from the ghost fleet going to Russian ports in the Baltic to try to get them to pay for cutting a cable. Captain and a few crew were charged with crimes. The ship owner got away with it.

This is either a disaster in the making or a grubby cash grab.

If we are replacing skilled worker visa's with this, then its a disaster. We depend on a large number of skilled workers from other countries, the medical field especially. Its a bit nuts, we depend on socialized education in other countries to provide us with skilled workers, and then WE complain about the brain drain, when its everyone else getting screwed. Surgeons in the USA for example make about double or triple whats common in the EU.

If OTOH this is a cash grab, its Trumpism as usual. You have millions of ill-gotten gains in other countries where you've been hiding from the taxman? $1 million gets you US citizenship and a get out of jail free card! Russian oligarchs, or drug kingpins welcome!
