Trump's Second Term

Interesting.

A few other GOP members messaged us over the weekend saying that they, too, are considering retiring in the middle of the term.

Here’s one particularly exercised senior House Republican:

“This entire White House team has treated ALL members like garbage. ALL. And Mike Johnson has let it happen because he wanted it to happen. That is the sentiment of nearly all — appropriators, authorizers, hawks, doves, rank and file. The arrogance of this White House team is off putting to members who are run roughshod and threatened. They don’t even allow little wins like announcing small grants or even responding from agencies. Not even the high profile, the regular rank and file random members are more upset than ever. Members know they are going into the minority after the midterms.

“More explosive early resignations are coming. It’s a tinder box. Morale has never been lower. Mike Johnson will be stripped of his gavel and they will lose the majority before this term is out.”

The Department of War is 'reviewing' Mark Kelley for his sedition.

The video made by the “Seditious Six” was despicable, reckless, and false. Encouraging our warriors to ignore the orders of their Commanders undermines every aspect of “good order and discipline.” Their foolish screed sows doubt and confusion — which only puts our warriors in danger.

Five of the six individuals in that video do not fall under @DeptofWar jurisdiction (one is CIA and four are former military but not “retired”, so they are no longer subject to UCMJ). However, Mark Kelly (retired Navy Commander) is still subject to UCMJ—and he knows that.

As was announced, the Department is reviewing his statements and actions, which were addressed directly to all troops while explicitly using his rank and service affiliation—lending the appearance of authority to his words. Kelly’s conduct brings discredit upon the armed forces and will be addressed appropriately.

I'm still on vacation, but I found some more postcards for y'all:

I don't suppose it should come as much of a surprise that an administration so implacably opposed to historical accuracy, truth and rational thought should go from policies that sound alarmingly like those of Nazis to polices that are exactly like those of Nazis, but it's still, oddly enough, a little disturbing.

Meanwhile, we have a little unintended consequence from the new Xitter policy that promises to doxx and kill dissidents across the world:

russian bot farms actually were influencing americans through social media on behalf of the right. to no one’s surprise

Bessent: "You know the best way to bring your inflation rate down? Move from a blue state to a red state. Blue state inflation is half a percent higher."

The impression we are getting is red states have lower inflation because they are becoming deprived rural backwaters owned and run by elite Republican oligarchs. Not so much states as fiefdoms.

If you are going to disrupt your life to move house for that elusive 0.5 percent inflation reduction, may as well move to another, more modern country that isn't being run by heartless fascist bean-counters intent on keeping you in regimented poverty.

But that's just an outside observation. ;)

Let me guess, two weeks?

NEW: White House to delay healthcare proposal after significant congressional backlash.

According to two White House officials the announcement has been delayed, with one of those officials citing strong congressional backlash to Trump’s proposed plan.

Trump planned to make an announcement as early as Monday proposing a framework to address health care costs which included an extension of Obamacare subsides.

More Dems moving to Red states would be a nightmare for the Republicans.

Not American and have never been involved in any military anywhere, but...

During military training, are recruits ever given any sort of classroom instructions about what are legal vs. illegal orders? (Maybe not to the point where they can argue things in the supreme court, but at least a basic "shooting Americans who are not a threat is wrong. Don't do it".
I was in 1971. There'd been some problematic events in VietNam.

Quite enjoying the aroma of impotent rage here. Hegseth trying to sound tough but making it plain he's got nothin' and they've said nothing actionable or he"d have acted already.
