President Donald Trump wants the Washington Commanders to name their new stadium in his honour, according to reports.

ESPN reported a senior White House official saying there had been back-channel conversation with the Commanders’ ownership group, led by Josh Harris, to discuss Trump’s wish.

The official said: “It’s what the president wants, and it will probably happen.”

The NFL team is building a new venue on the site of the old RFK Stadium, which was the Commanders’ home from 1961 to 1996.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told ESPN on Friday: “That would be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible.” She did not confirm or deny the reports or answer additional questions.

Nice chart and a pretty clear indication of how this current mess came about. The old idea that what was good for business was good for America broke down right around the point that outsourcing and automation became the norm along with endless ways for corporations to avoid paying tax. Now corporations can fatten the bottom line and inflate their share price without any of that feeding back into the real economy. Of course sooner or later it all falls apart when it turns out their race to the bottom means no one can afford cars, smartphones or broadband anymore.

True. 'Freedom' to Americans is the god-given right to consume and live your life exactly as selfishly and wastefully as you wish. If prices rise too much from scarcity, then the rising prices themselves are the problem, not the scarcity.

Then again, all of the Western world is like this to some degree. We Norwegians waste ridiculous amounts of electricity per capita (way more than our Nordic siblings in Sweden and Finland who live in far colder countries), and still so many Norwegians whine endlessly about high electricity prices.

I want to live in the alternate timeline where he goes to catch the ball, misses and it hits him square in the forehead leaving him with a circular indentation and embossed stitch marks for the rest of his life. Oh, and he's known forever as "Donnie Base Face".

The US Department of Agriculture ordered states to stop issuing full food stamp benefits for November and to “immediately undo” any issuance of the full allotments, after a Supreme Court justice on Friday paused a lower court order requiring the agency to pay Americans their full assistance.

In the Saturday directive, obtained by CNN, the USDA told states to instead proceed with issuing partial benefits that will provide recipients with 65% of their November allotments, as ordered by the same lower court judge earlier in the week.

“To the extent States sent full SNAP payment files for November 2025, this was unauthorized,” Patrick Penn, a top USDA official, wrote in the memo. “Accordingly, States must immediately undo any steps taken to issue full SNAP benefits for November 2025.”

States that fail to comply could face a cancellation of federal cost-sharing of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, as well as be financially responsible for over issuances of benefits, the memo said.

Hitler's closest loved ones committed suicide when he did, even force-feeding their children cyanide pills. I've never thought of this before, but maybe Dump's cult of personality is so strong that some (although of course probably not many) of his followers won't be able to go on without him.
