Are you claiming Israel will not abide by the ceasefire?
 
I am claiming that HAMAS did not abide by the ceasefire that was in place before October 7, 2023.

Under the proposal seen by Reuters, the hubs would be used for: secure aid depots to distribute food, water, medical supplies and other aid directly to civilians; logistics hubs and warehouses from which aid groups could distribute same-day rations and goods to civilians deep in Gaza using small pick-up trucks; infrastructure hubs to restore water, electricity and sanitation, medical facilities, and mass kitchens and bakeries.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever read the 1949 Rhodes Armistice Agreements (w/ Egypt) ?

It offers interesting information about ceasefires.

Take note, these documents form the entire basis for any Palestinian 'territories' -- and those 1949 Lines were utilized as boundary points in the 1982 treaty implementation with Egypt.
In other words, here we are in 2025, with 1949 as a frame of reference for the Gaza Strip.

looks like the US is done trusting in Israel's assessment of the situation in Gaza, and is flying its own surveillance drones to monitor the ceasefire.

The Knesset really managed to piss Vance off by passing the first stage in the Annex West Bank resolution while he was still in the Country.

JD Vance is not anyone of importance to the Israeli right-wing.
He's considered a buffoon, and his statement that "I personally take some insult to it" means less than diddly-squat to the few Parliamentarians who went ahead with the pro-forma vote.
The preliminary reading was unlikely to pass multiple rounds of voting to become law or win a majority in the 120-seat parliament.

So, it was just internal political theater, no more, no less. With the added bonus of pissing-off JD and Rubio, both of whom are 'running interference' for the Saudis, while making attempts at rehabilitating/reinvigorating the Palestinian Authority!

For the first time, I've heard the use of the term "Project NewGaza" in describing the participation of local clans to overcome HAMAS rule. These militia are in control of their Green Zones, and are coordinating with IDF on a wide variety of humanitarian missions, as well as receiving items in weekly shipments of materials that are otherwise difficult to locate in the Gaza Strip. “We go to bring supplies from Kerem Shalom..." -- Hossam al-Astal (Gaza tribal leader).

HAMAS got another major spanking, and the IDF has returned to stand-by mode, now awaiting the 10-or-so remains that are believed to be accessible.

The names of those HAMAS operatives who were just eliminated is a testament to the efficiency and depth of information that ShinBet provides (through their network of Gazans assisting/collaborating).

Anyway, TGZ is wrong.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had ordered the strikes after accusing Hamas of violating the ceasefire for handing over body parts this week that Israel said were partial remains of a hostage recovered earlier in the war. That was compounded by the shooting and killing an Israeli soldier during an exchange of gunfire in Rafah, the southernmost city in Gaza.

If I were a Palestinian right now, I would be looking around and noticing that "Life under HAMAS" is the worst possible outcome that could befall Gaza.

NPR (really just a dispatch from the AP) did not mention the HAMAS guys that were eliminated. Is that their journalistic best practice, to avoid naming the men who were the targets of these specific air-to-ground rocketing missions? Why is that missing from their report? The names are available: Direct hits on guys who deserved to be terminated.

  • Muhammad Issa and Fawaz Uwayda: a platoon commander in Nukhba Force, and a Nukhba Force cell commander.
  • Hatem Maher Mousa Qudra: Nukhba Force company commander who led an attack on Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha during the October 7, 2023, attack.
  • Muhammad Abu Shari'a and Nidal Abu Shari'a: members of the Mujahideen Brigade
  • (IDF named 26 total terrorists taken out in these latest strikes)
A powerful lesson is beginning to sink in, little by little -- Israel is going to search and destroy enemies, without mercy.
Those who are surrounding these men are at risk of their own lives ending right alongside them. Including kids, wives, cousins, brothers, sisters, elderly parents.

Of course, the alternative, to surrender & lay down their weapons, is still being offered.

arthwollipot, while you seem to think that there's no chance of HAMAS demilitarizing, that is exactly what is demanded seriously by those who matter -- including the Saudis, Qataris, the EU, USA, Canada, and Egypt, among others. Jordan's King Abdullah is on record as saying (when asked whether he trusts Hamas to disarm) “I don’t know the HAMAS negotiators, but those that are working extremely close to them — Qatar and Egypt — feel very, very optimistic that they will abide by that.” -- source: BBC Panorama interview

Seems like the news hook would have to be that folks like Samhan and Qawasmeh are now free to spend their "pay to slay" bonuses on new endeavors; perhaps they will come up with something even more creative than bus bombing this time around.

Let's be very clear on what just happened.

This was not a targeted military strike in retaliation for Hamas killing an IDF soldier.

This was Israel slaughtering 46 children because Hamas gave them the wrong corpse.
