I'm old enough to remember the Yellow #5 rumors, and he has gone after food coloring. Everything is on the table. It'll be hook hands on the car door handle next.
 
At Science Based Medicine Jonathan Howard quoted portions of Dr. Prasad's interview with Ms. [Bari] Weiss. "I think the president is 100 percent correct that it is prudent to take the chicken pox shot (varicella) separately. MMRV is known to have an excess risk of febrile seizures compared to getting them (MMR and V) separately. I also think the president and the ACIP (CDC’s advisory committee on vaccines) is right to question when hepatitis B shots should be offered if a mother is negative for hepatitis B... For folks who argue that not all mothers are screened, or that hep B surface antigen is not sensitive enough, I wonder why they don’t advocate for better screening, including use of the highly sensitive polymerase chain reaction or ultrasensitive quantitative antigen tests...The proximate cause of measles outbreaks is low rates of measles vaccination, but the deeper causes are poverty, health illiteracy, distrust of the medical system, and feeling like we lack agency over our lives and bodies. But the most destructive thing of the last 25 years, in my opinion, is the colossal mishandling of the Covid-19 pandemic...I think the scientific establishment blindly defending the U.S. vaccine schedule is incorrect."

Dr. Howard wrote, "Although Dr. Prasad famously said on multiple occasions, “RCT or STFU,” I can’t think of a single RCT our establishment has done thus far. They’ve completely failed us. Of course, the real problem now isn’t that children are getting too many vaccines, it’s that confused parents are refusing them and diseases are spreading."

The host of Pandemic Accountability Index discussed the futility of countering anti-vax individuals with science: "You hear a lot of talk about the need to “restore trust” in public health, but you simply can’t “convince” those who value emotional appeals over scientific fact with a mountain of peer-reviewed medical research. Every time an anti-vaccine influencer’s claim is debunked, they simply ignore it and make up another ridiculous accusation. You’re never going to make someone who has a financial interest in selling anti-vaccine garbage willingly give up the grift. The general public doesn’t have the time to sort through mountains of scientific literature, and many credentialed, seemingly legitimate “experts” have peddled anti-vaccine lies in the media these past five years...Those of us in the trenches fighting anti-vaccine disinformation need to be frank with the public: when anti-vaxxers get their way and are allowed to set policy, children end up dying as a result."
 
the amount of dead kids rfk jr will be responsible for over the next couple of decades makes me sometimes think this is the worst thing happening with the trump government, but man there's so much bad stuff going on right now that idk. it's a tough call

A potential (awful) solution is to look longer term: Keep a very public tally of kids who died as a result of vaccine-preventable diseases, and note who the anti-vaxxer was responsible for each death. In the US situation, that will be RFK Jr. for most of them. It's a public-shaming body-bag count, really. Worked for the Vietnam War...

Derek Lowe discussed an unexpected result regarding mRNA vaccines at In the Pipeline. Dr. Lowe wrote, "This is a rather unexpected article that suggests that some mRNA vaccines can potentiate the actions of some immune-checkpoint therapies used in oncology...It wasn’t the spike-protein mRNA that did this specifically - the authors replaced that with mRNA against a cytomegalovirus antigen and this vaccination had the same effect. So it’s the immune-potentiating effect of the mRNA dose itself that’s helping, not anything to do with the specific antigen that’s it’s aimed at...This is really, really good news, and it immediately suggests that patients who are eligible for immune-checkpoint therapy (things like Keytruda, Opdivo, Tecentriq, Bavencio, Imfinzi, etc.) should be dosed with some sort of LNP-mRNA shot right along with it."

At SBM David Gorski discussed the same study. He wrote, "For advanced stage cancers of this sort, this is a big deal, a very large survival benefit. Basically, the median survival of those who had received a COVID-19 vaccination within 100 days of starting immunotherapy was nearly twice as long as it was for those who had not. It would be easy to dismiss the results as coming from a retrospective study and not an RCT if (1) they weren’t so dramatic; (2) the authors hadn’t controlled for so many confounders; and (3) the authors hadn’t seen similar results from non-mRNA-based vaccines."

Dr. Gorski continued, "Again, this is the opposite of the nonsensical claim from antivaxxers that COVID-19 vaccines have been responsible for an epidemic of “turbo cancer,” a term never heard or used before COVID-19 vaccines that appears to have been made up of whole cloth by antivaxxers to describe very aggressive cancers that, according to them, were caused by COVID-19 vaccines."
