Wow, UK has lost freedom of speech

Homosexuality and Judaism are not crimes.
They certainly have been historically. But now debating what should and shouldn't be a crime is now something you can not even debate in your free speech world. You seem to truly hate the American idea of free speech.

Were you intentionally ignoring the bit about the use of that particular flag as a deliberate act of provocation?

Does the word "sectarianism" mean anything to you? You might like to check out the history of the Six Counties or some recent history of Clydeside and Edinburgh: the rivalries between Celtic and Rangers or Hibs and Hearts are waaaaay more than just those between supportes of different teams. Compare and contrast with Birmingham City and Aston Villa, Manchesters City and United or even Everton and Liverpool.
Without permission from the owner, no flags should be put on utility poles.

I assume the poles are govt owned? If so, if they do allow signs and posters and flags installed by the public, than they should allow all flags and posters, at least of all current national/regional flags.

And sectarianism and the deliberate provocative use of those flags (usually carried or paraded, rather than hung on poles)?

You actually want to arrest people for carrying the flag of Northern Ireland on public sidewalks? Isnt Northern Ireland part of the UK?

This makes zero sense and shows how Freedom of Speech is on life support in UKia.

Are you deliberately missing the point here?

Which is about how the Ulster Banner has been historically and recently used as a sectarian symbol to be deliberately provocative in a number of places. And that sectarianism continues to be a problem (up to and including violence and rioting) in some of those places.

Anyone using that flag should go away, learn some history, have a good think, then give themselves a good talking to. Unless they are deliberately setting out to make a sectarian and/or provocative point for their own peculiar ends.

It is nowhere near as simplistic or naive a picture as you present it. Might be nice if it was, but it isn't.

So much for Freedom of Speech in UKia.

Come back and tell me when you understand some history of Ireland as a whole, the Six Counties in particular, the conflict between Nationalists and Unionists, how this played out across the island of Ireland and over into, especially, England, how sectarianism in parts of Scotland is directly linked to the situation in the Six Counties...There are a few folk here who can tell you a lot more than I can and there is a very extensive literature.

And you might be starting to get a hint of an inkling that flags don't exist in a vacuum, that they have long been used in very specific ways, to provoke specific responses, to incite deadly violence, that their use comes with a lot of baggage and that this (as with many other things) does not fit with your naively simplistic USA-centric view of how the world and societies work.

Which is definitely ironic since one of the things the Mayflower mob wanted wass freedom to oppress those of differing religious beliefs...

If you cant walk on a public sidewalk with the flag of another country or state without getting arrested, you are not free.

If walking around with such a flag will most likely cause you to get assaulted, your society is ◊◊◊◊ ed.

Yea we should all love Nazi's and there is nothing wrong with endorsing genocide with a Nazi flag. Swastikas for all.

Naaaah, mate, I just like to keep repeating myself, which seems to be the fashion in much of this thread.
It's important to remember to repeat yourself randomly, without relevance to the post you are replying too. Make sure to ignore the content of the post as you do so, and feign befuddlement. That's how you get the rizz here.

And back to being simple, without actually showing any willingness to address anything.

The history I mention above is similar to things which can be found in many parts of the world, as humans seem to quite like tribalism, or, as Peter Gabriel put it in "Not One Of Us", "How can we be in if there is no outside?"
Very sad that your country is so violent that walking around with the wrong flag could possibly lead to assault, and you therefore need police to arrest people walking around with the wrong flag so as to prevent violence.
