General Israel/Palestine discussion thread - Part 4

I told you guys that this period of exchanges of corpses is going to be very traumatic.

What arthwollipot is referring to proves my thesis.

Western anti-Israel activists have increasingly come out in support of Hamas’s extrajudicial executions of Gazan dissidents. Videos have circulated on Palestinian media of bound and kneeling men being shot dead in public execution ceremonies.

Please, let's show a bit of restraint and not turn this Forum into an online "Whose deaths are more horrible?"
What's the point of that? Does it advance our discussion a single iota?

HAMAS is requesting Sinwar's remains.
IDF is requesting Goldin's.
Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

There are reports that some of the bodies had literal tank tracks on them. These are war crimes. Bring the perpetrators to justice!

I do recall a video of a terrorist who tried to fire his RPG point-blank at a tank, but the tank absorbed the frontal attack (Merkavas have very strong armor in the front) and just rolled right over the guy.
Maybe that fellow is what you're referring to? Does it matter? What is your point?
Nobody is going to bring anyone to 'justice' in all of this.
Expecting that particular outcome is wishful thinking. Tuzz Tuzzen.

Counterpoint: Why would Israel want yet another anti-Israel Muslim theocracy on their borders? Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon... Arabs have historically not been kind to Israel, when they have their own state.

And that's before we even get to the point where Israel was actually willing to take steps in that direction. Withdrawing from Gaza. Allowing Gazan elections. There was a path there, to eventual autonomy and even sovereignty, and peaceful commerce between the two states. But Gazans chose not to go down that path. Gazans chose the other thing. And Israel responded reasonably.
No Israel chose not to. When Hamas was elected there was the option of accepting them as a democratically elected government, Israel chose not to.

19 still missing.

lionking, perhaps just leave Hercules56 to his own devices, if it makes him feel better to lambast Israel-loving people here, to vilify millions of Jews with the Nazi label, to make odious (and inappropiate) comparisons, to overall be a hater of IDF.
Well, that's his right, and as it's been pointed out numerous times, we have to restrain ourselves from 'personalizing' these comments and stick to the subjects. This Forum is certainly less nasty and strident than most of the discussions now taking place all over the internet, so let's try and keep it that way and give the moderators less removal work to do. arthwollipot, besides that random instagram message, are you aware under what circumstances did the IDF see the need to open fire? These isolated incidents of IDF drones and tanks firing at threats to the soldiers' static positions come amid intermittent 'friction' around the Gaza perimeter since the redeployment.
Thr IDF is reporting recent 'get-away warnings' in response to approaches toward the security line, with tank rounds lobbed at armed elements moving too near Israeli forces.

Nothing about that action would be considered a breach of the ceasefire.
Not to mention, no ID of who was killed. For all we know, they were HAMAS, and deserving of being neutralized.

Meanwhile, more bakeries in Gaza, supported by the UN World Food Program, have resumed bread production.
I think that Israel is facilitating transfers of commercial ovens into the strip, among other aid.
Also, COGAT is announcing that Israel and Egypt are preparing to reopen Rafah gate for people.
I wonder how that's gonna be handled, as there's sure to be a crush of humanity trying to get through, away from the strip.

IDF Sgt.Major (res.) Muhammed al-Ataras, was repatriated to his home nation yesterday.
On 10/7 was killed at Nahal Oz and his corpse taken into Gaza for ransom.
His great loves were his family and horses. Since childhood, he had a passion for animals and dreamed of creating a petting zoo for kids.

And so it goes...

Israel broke the deal under the fishy claim that Hamas didn't fulfil a demand that everyone had agreed to beforehand couldn't be met, including Israel and the US.
Some people just can't get enough bloodshed.

There has been no breach of the terms, from what I can see.
Ceasefires are tricky things, you have to realize. Israel has an entire armed force with thousands of troops all over Gaza, with orders to respond only when provoked or endangered. HAMAS and PIJ would love to sneak up on a tank and explode an IED. They're kinda well-known for employing this tactic.

Ahhh, Barcelona!

How much food aid should be blocked due to the 19 missing rotting corpses?
"Rotting corpses" ? After two years, they're probably just skulls and bones.
Anyway, I'll jump past your disgusting characterization, and note that until Lt.Hadar Goldin's remains are returned, all Gazans are going to be at risk of the war resuming, with everything that entails. Including a complete closure of the crossings.

How many millions of living people should suffer?

Can you clarify so I understand your position?
Israel acknowledges that it may take a long time to locate, retrieve, and transfer the remains of some of the dead hostages, but there is an assessment that HAMAS knows the burial locations of many more remains, which it could access if it wished to, as IDF troops stand down and refrain from active offensive combat at this point.

So 20 rotting corpses is more important than feeding 2 million mostly innocent people?

That's some twisted logic. Its almost as if you think 20 dead Jews is worth more than 2 million living Palestinians.

Could that be true?

Why the incorrect number?

So the 🔻 IDFascists will start killing innocent people again if the 19 rotting corpses are not returned?

Huh. Interesting priorities.
