I grew up hearing my parents and grandparents telling stories of their time in France during the nazi occupation, and of the collaborators ("les collabos" one of the worst insult you could hurl at someone long after the war). Of the two, the collabos were the most hated, because they were the scum who did betray their compatriots for the thrill of suddenly having discretionary power over their neighbours. My mom died last June, and she recognised the same attitude with ICE …

Unfortunately, too many women lack the self esteem needed to recognise their spouse's villainy. And too many more are closing their eyes in exchange for a pay packet.

Surely serious enough to justify the federalizing of National Guard troops under the 10th Amendment and 10 U.S.C. § 12406, the federal statute which permits such action when “there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States” or “the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States.” Right?

Yet, in our federal system in which states have power, it’s state governors who have the authority to keep the peace and enforce the nation’s laws—not a power-grabbing president who thinks the Constitution and its precepts need not apply to him when he wants something.

Judge Karin Immergut understands this. Thats why Immergut, a U.S. district court judge for Oregon, has not faltered in her duty to uphold the Constitution—no matter how aggressively Trump attack dog Stephen Miller pushes the terrorism button to justify his boss’ power grab.

Anyone who opposes the king's will (or that of his Hand) is obviously a treasonous terrorist (or a terroristic traitor), whether that's an individual working for a private company or a governor of a state or a whole race of people or foreigners piloting boats in their own waters. Duh.

The only thing that's missing is the charge of heresy for opposing the king's will, that will come later once they get the whole "divine right" part of the monarchy up and running. Constantine was willing to pretend to be subservient to God in order to co-opt Christianity into a mechanism for his power, but I don't see Trump sharing the glory. In the new state religion the only god will be Trump himself. But I figure we got at least three years before it gets that far.

Do it the right way and still get locked up.

Community pooled their money to pay for her green card—then ICE locked her up in a private prison instead.

Agents detained her when she showed up for final green card appointment—a process that lasted years & cost $16,009.

Family was waiting at her house planning to celebrate over bowls of Pozole Rojo—but Leticia "Letty" Nevares never made it home again.

Meanwhile, ICE agents have lied and tried to trick her into signing documents agreeing to "self deport" without letting her talk to a lawyer first—according to her son Steven Rodriguez.

Her family was even denied the right to see her—after they made the long drive to the new California City Detention Facility.

There was a documentary I saw years ago that included an interview with an elderly German man who had been in the army during WW II. He talked about how, when his unit was captured by the Allies, they were shown photos and films of the concentration camps. He and his friends laughed, dismissing them as staged and fake.
