Does 'rape culture' accurately describe (many) societies?

it seems to me you keep citing evidence of porn on social media sites and blaming it on porn hub
And HE STILL HASN'T presented any evidence to support his claim that viewing porn is damaging to anyone. He desperately wants to avoid that.

While it might be axiomatic to him, it isn't to the rest of us. I'm willing to accept his premise that many 13 year olds have accessed porn. I'm sure I saw dirty magazines by that age. So what? At best I can tell, it didn't ruin my life.

from your link:
A recent report by Ofcom found that more than a quarter of five to seven-year-olds report using TikTok and a third of them do so unsupervised.

5- 7 Year olds are reporting this? Really?

Your supporting evidence is a never ending source of amusement. Keep it coming.

PS
The 'unsupervised ' part is the problem. Not the content.

1/3 of 1/4 is 8%.. Such a staggering number!

Not following what you find amusing.

Seems to me that rather than deal with the substance of their findings (of the Global Witness report), you want to carp about the reliability of those stats.

CMIIW.

I could deal with the substance better if I could see the actual survey they presented to 5-7 year olds.
The substance of the report is that children are fed porn. TikTok keep failing to keep kids safe. Their assurances (including to parents) aren't trustworthy.

Do you disagree with that?

i agree that the problem is moderation on social media, it doesn’t seem like you agree in your other posts though. your argument needs refinement

It's hard to keep an argument consistent when it's stretching "some young children use potentially harmful (in various ways) social media unsupervised" to "that's why all porn should be banned for everyone."

The context of the post was that of a denial that kids can stumble on porn. Sure, 'stumble' won't be entirely innocent - kids will be naively curious.

Perhaps you could clarify specifically what you mean?

POEM STILL HASN'T presented any evidence to support his claim that viewing porn is damaging to anyone. How many times must we state this and be ignored?

Your expressed desire that all porn be banned for everyone is also the context of the post (and all posts in this thread).

And your acceptance of and indeed aversity to ensuring children aren't seeing porn (calling it puritanical) contextualises your posts.

TikTok recommends porn to children, says report:
In late July and early August this year, researchers from campaign group Global Witness set up four accounts on TikTok pretending to be 13-year-olds. They used false dates of birth and were not asked to provide any other information to confirm their identities. They also turned on the platform's "restricted mode", which TikTok says prevents users seeing "mature or complex themes, such as… sexually suggestive content".

Without doing any searches themselves, investigators found overtly sexualised search terms being recommended in the "you may like" section of the app. Those search terms led to content of women simulating masturbation. Other videos showed women flashing their underwear in public places or exposing their breasts. At its most extreme, the content included explicit pornographic films of penetrative sex.
OK. I was wondering if that result may be like the claim that logging into Pornhub would have you presented with fictional violent porn and when I went and looked it wasn't. Can you tell me where this pornographic material is meant to be presented to kids? I've just created an account and lied about my age - I've set it up so that I was born in 2012, now logged in and the first thing I see is:

I've clicked on "Explore" and it displays 196 clips for me to look at, none of which from either the thumb nail or title have anything pornographic in them. On the "For you" two clips are shown one is titled "Tiktok Scam" and one has someone telling me they've just got the cutest make-up bag. I also can't find a "you may like" section.

Either TikTok has changed, or they were doing something else to see pornography.

ETA: I've clicked on 4 of the clips shown in the explore section that had attractive young ladies as the thumbnails and showed over a million views, going down to that level also did not expose me to any pornography.

No, the substance of the report ( for your purposes ) is about data reported b7 5-7 year olds. Which makes the report nonsense and potentially made up.

Haha, you're clearly taking this thing very seriously! ...Which, let me hasten to add, is very cool, in fact this is exactly what skepticism should be, actually finding out rather than guessing.

Let's see what @Poem comes up with now in response. (I suspect it's a case of being fed what you've asked for before, much like it is in Youtube for instance. But that's just a guess, I myself don't facebook or tiktok or any of that --- but a reasonable enough guess I should think. In which case this whole anti-porn crusade thing might appear to be a hilarious instance of the lady that doth protest too much!)

Also, it's clear from your full post it's Tiktok you've logged into, but the first part of your post makes it look like you logged onto Pornhub. You might want to edit that while still within edit window. (Eta, duh, scratch that, no edit window for you obviously!)
