Two people have been killed in an attack on a synagogue in Manchester. The suspect was shot by police and is believed dead, but this can't be confirmed until a bomb disposal team have examined a device strapped to his waist. There's a photo of the alleged attacker in the BBC article linked below.

It is apparently all the fault of Starmer and his anti-Semitic, pro Islamic ideology and the left wing extremists.

The police have issued a statement about the identity of the culprit.

Police said in a statement:

We are now able to confirm that, although formal identification is yet to take place, we believe the person responsible for today’s attacks is 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie. He is a British citizen of Syrian descent.

A suspicious device worn by the attacker during the incident has been assessed and was deemed not to be viable.

Based on what we currently know, our records do not show any previous Prevent referrals relating to this individual.

Pro-Hamas protests are already banned in the UK since 2021.

Rather sad news. Looks like the police caused many of the injuries and deaths.

Victim died after being shot by armed police in response to synagogue attack

One of the victims in yesterday’s attack outside a synagogue in north Manchester died after being shot accidentally by an armed officer, police have confirmed.

Chief constable Stephen Watson, of Greater Manchester Police (GMP), said that the attacker Jihad al-Shamie was not in possession of a firearm and that the death was the result of “a tragic and unforeseen consequence of the urgently required action taken by my officers to bring this vicious attack to an end”.

A second member of the public sustained non-life threatening gunshot injuries, he added.

Just checking, but did Dick offer his condolences to the families of the victims, extend his best wishes to the injured, praise the actions of the members of the public who intervened or speak out against those who sow division, or did he only try to use the deaths of two innocent people for his own benefit?

If I'm reading this right, it seems one of the two victims died inside the synagogue, shot through the door, by police firing at the attacker. Another man, one of 3 injured and in hospital, was similarly shot through the door while helping to barricade it against the attacker. That's really awful.

You appear to be correct.
The police killed twice as many people as the terrorist! By all accounts the armed police response was very prompt. Having to kill someone, even a bad man must be distressing, but it must be terrible to know you killed an innocent bystander, this will involve a formal investigation, but I hope that there will not be an attempt to bring a criminal case against the officer involved.

I think none of the protests are pro-Hamas, if they were they would be banned. They are pro-life, Palestinian lives, protests. You do not have to accept the deaths of hundreds of innocent men, women, and children because one bad British Syrian man killed one British Jewish man. It is a fallacy that seems to have been created that being pro-Palestinian is anti semitic. One can oppose all violence.

It is possible that this may relate to the recent unprovoked Israeli attacks on Syria, and have nothing to do with Palestinians. Perhaps he has lost had family members killed by the IDF? This would not justify violence against Jewish or Israeli persons, but using this criminal action by a British Syrian to attack Palestinian supporters is wrong.

Why not? The terrorist was not armed with a gun, what possessed the police to open fire? Why couldn't they have used other means to take him down?

He had a knife and what appeared to be a bomb belt. What's your suggestion?
My suggestion? Probably not shoot and kill innocent people. These were armed coppers, they are trained to deal with this stuff. No gun was present they should have gone after him without opening fire.

I have no problem with them opening fire, just the way it was done.

Okay, yes, they are trained to deal with this stuff. Manchester armed response cops will have considered how they will respond to a seeming terror attack and they have the glaring example of the 2017 Ariana Grande concert bombing to remind them some people are quite prepared to blow themselves and everyone around them to bits to make some or other point.

So, yes, they are trained. I do not know the details of their training but my guess is it strongly advises against rugby tackling a guy who appears to be wearing a suicide vest, and instead advises acting as fast as possible to either isolate or incapacitate him.

And a bit of background, from a friend via Facebook.

Posted on 4th October, two days after the Manchester attack.

I wore a stab proof vest for 30 minutes today
It was my turn to bar the doors if our synagogue got attacked

The actual worst thing you learn when you volunteer is that if anything happens, your job is to go inside, and lock the doors, and call for help.
The security guard you’ve been chatting to every week for a few years? You’ll be putting them on the other side of the locked door, to fend for themselves.
You can’t do anything to help them.
Your job is to make sure the rest of the congregation don’t get hurt.
And yes, that is exactly how at least one of the brave men in Manchester died this week - holding the doors closed, as the attacker tried to break through it.

And yes, these procedures have been in place for many years, because we are always expecting attacks like these, and they always come.

According to the TV news, apart from the perpetrator, the man who was injured and the man who was killed by the police were hit by the same bullet. None of the three firearms officers involved are being investigated for misconduct, but ballistics investigations are continuing to understand exactly what happened.
