It feels all very desperate.
To go by Trump's metrics, the efforts to create widespread support for their Christian Nationalist Takeover in the aftermath of the Kirk shooting seems to have fizzled out, as the number of people tuning in for the Memorial was miniscule, and even attendees started walking out.
People in deep Red states come out to obstruct and harass ICE goons, and the last election flipped a deep red seats blue by a more than 20 points shift.
It will take overwhelming and blatant voter suppression and election fraud for the GOP not take a complete L in the midterms.

If Obama had done it, it would have been an appalling debasement of the dignity of the office of president, a shocking insult to the American people, and he should be impeached immediately. When Trump does it, it's fine. Trump could ◊◊◊◊ a goat on his desk live on TV and his sycophants would say it was fine.

If there is one thing you could give Trump credit for, it's that he was able to lower the standards for himself down to minus infinity.

Trump is ill. He is not at all well. Hé is unable to determine what is real or what is fabricated. Medibeds? War in Portland? Paranoia and vindictiveness are symptoms of a debilitating condition. He needs to be escorted to a hospital where he can be examined and treated—out of site of the public. Invoke Article 25. The world does not need to watch this man disintegrate. He is dragging the rest of us down with him. Who will remove him from office? Who will end the theater of our misery?

Well let's imagine for a moment that's true. Why does the richest country in the world have to shut down its government rather than deal with an occasional immigrant with a burst appendix? What does "health insurance" mean in this context anyway? Basic emergency care, or free boob jobs, or free gang tattoo removal? Shut down the country rather than think about that.
