Trump's Second Term

I have to agree. The destruction is necessary, first. Too many functioning parts and you can't do much in a year or two.

Donald trump. JD vance. Steven miller. rfk, junior. RussellVought. Pam Bundy. six members of the supreme court. Republicans in the house senate. they are all willing to burn this country down to the ground. it is really important now to understand this.

the age of bipartisanship is over. it's been over for a while now. will someone explain this to Congressional Democratic leadership? you cannot negotiate with arsonist.

I don't know if it's just me Tero, but I find some of your posts so cryptic I simply can't tell what point you're making.
I quoted a random Threads guy. The point he makes is very clear. Trump and pals are not going to negotiate anything anymore. Democrats have been sidelined, congress pretty much ignored as long as they approved the trump cabinet heads. What is the goal? The goal is to create enough chaos that the executive will have all the power by 2026 election. What is left then? Just the states, to resist. What Trump is doing now is grabbing as much of the military as he can. He will have the generals that stay fight his war against the states and cities.

What part of that is not clear to you by now?

Kristi Noem on the Democratic Party: "They aren't just liberals anymore. If you look at the Democrat Party, they're a party of communists and marxists and socialists."
You already posted this a week or two ago.

Has something changed? Has Noem managed to find a Democrat policy she can plausibly label "Marxist"?

Did you? How were we to know this? Quote marks would have helped.

You wrote "I have to agree. The destruction is necessary, first."

Unclear bits were;
Who is "I"
With whom do "I" agree?
What destruction is "necessary" and why?
"First" before what?

My words are first. The quote below. The random guy parts ARE in quotes. His name (rsshade) is in blue for those able to open threads:

I would genuinely not be surprised if Donald announced a new 1000% EU tariff later today.
I wouldn't be surprised if Trump announced a war on peanut butter, that moonlight has cancer-curing properties, that Ferengi drones are attacking Quaker oil companies, or that an invisible skull screams curse words at him on the toilet. He's crazy.

Here are the quotes circled. Do you demand me to post quotes first and my response next?

No, I don't want to make a big deal out of it at all, but I just do not understand, from reading that, what destruction you think is necessary.

Maybe someone else who thinks they get it could jump in and tell me what I'm missing.

See, that's what I don't understand. Congresscritters are NOT beholden by the president. They are ONLY beholden by their own constituencies. And Yeah, I get that the POTUS has the bully pulpit. But its always a bad idea to put all of your eggs in one basket, by following everything the POTUS says and does. Any Congressperson who pins their entire political career on one man is taking an enormous risk.
There are several ways that a congress-critter can see their political career negatively affected if they "go against" the party or the fuherer...

- As you mentioned, the president has a "bully pulpit". This is especially true for the republican party, which has transformed itself into a cult. Yes, Trump may only be one man, but if you are in a deep red district, you can see yourself primaried if you speak out. (Yes, Trump will eventually be gone, but if you get kicked out in the 2026 midterms because Trump had you primaried, you likely won't be getting back in in 2028, even if Trump is no longer around.)

- Access to federal campaign funds. Congress-critters do a lot of their own fundraising, but there is also money provided by the federal party. Play nice and you get extra money for election ads.

- Committee assignments... If you are a Trump cheerleader, you might get onto the foreign affairs or homeland security committee (high profile/influential positions.) If you speak out against dear leader, you will end up on the "Joint Committee on the Library" (And you will be responsible for bringing the donuts to the meeting.)

Trump, to succeed, will need to destroy resistance in cities. He will need to destroy as much of the administrative state as possible. Two million federal workers. Leave maybe transportation, coast guard and whatever we need for disasters that the states can't afford. Hurricane damage etc.

Trump will demand something or other in cities. Probably deport the homeless. The prison industry! He does not want to see them. Every city to turn into a copy of a country club. Big areas, like he owns a few miles inland from Mar a Lago.
