Merged Charlie Kirk shot at Utah Valley University event. / Charlie Kirk Shot And Killed

Trump referred to himself in the first person over 60 times in his speech. This is the kind of behavior that is entirely expected from Trump. It should not be normal for anyone, but it is normal for Trump. Trump also made it clear he hates his opponents.
Out of interest, how many times did he refer to Charlie Kirk?

Not surprising. The ABC have overreached, and they know it! They also badly misread the viewing audience - they copped a lot of blowback, both from the public and from celebrities, who made it pretty clear they would boycott the ABC's other programs and products in retaliation for what they did.

Now watch them try to spin this up as some temporary suspension that was never going to be permanent.

leaked discord messages from tyler robinson and his friends.

The federal government, the Washington crowd and corporate media (based in Washington and New York) see the country in wholly partisan terms, Republican versus Democrat, Red versus Blue, old media versus social media, liberal versus conservative, right versus left, straight versus gay, and on and on. Charlie Kirk’s assassination (in Utah!) should remind us of the actual diversity of the nation, and of the cost of polarization that demonizes the other side.

No one in Robinson’s group is cheering or justifying the murder in any of the messages I reviewed. They’re just struggling to understand what their friend did. But Washington has become obsessed with the Discord chat, convinced it’s some kind of headquarters for the murder and cauldron of radicalization and conspiracy. Today FBI Director Patel vowed to investigate “anyone and everyone in that Discord chat.”

What I see is a bunch of young people shocked, horrified and searching for answers, like the rest of the country.

One thing I find fascinating: at one point, I was hearing assertions that he was obviously a leftist, and the reason was because he had a trans friend.

I don't know if that is still the working idea or not or if there is any basis to it, but it really doesn't matter. The part I find interesting is the conclusion that, because he had a trans friend, he must be leftist.

As if there's no way a right-wing person could even consider having a friend who is trans. But hey, don't call them the party of hate....

In internet discussions, when Christians insist that we are all sinners, I like to call them out and ask, what sins am I committing? Sorry, I don't do drugs, I am monogamous in marriage, so sex and drugs are out. As far as I can tell, the reason I am a sinner is because mostly because I don't hate enough people. I am ok with gay and trans people, and I don't judge those who have abortions. So what are the sins I am committing that Christians aren't? That's about it. I don't condemn others enough.

I don't have any trans friends, but I know trans people and I don't disassociate myself from them, hate them, or condemn them. Apparently that is sufficient to know that I am a leftist. Because there's no way a rightwinger could do that. That's the message right now.

Spinning, spinning, spinning! I'm gonna go right ahead and call BS on this.

If it was all about "lowering the temperature" then why cover the superheated divisive remarks of The Fat Orange Prolapsed Anus and his High Command?

Just finished watching a great Monday Night Football match between the Detroit Lions and the Baltimore Ravens on ABC / ESPN. Great finish but I fear people might be triggered by Troy Aikman's comment about Lion's Head Coach Dan Campbell having large onions for going for a first down on 4th and 3 from the 50 yard line with the outcome still in doubt. I find this comment insensitive not only to MAGA, the pearl-clutching FCC and Disney brass but also the NFL coaches of lesser agricultural prowess.

Suspended Troy Aikman until we can lower the temperature on testicle size.

I guess in the battle of party line v profit, Disney has chosen predictably.
I find it encouraging, actually: one of the most notoriously vicious and canny corporations with a long history of dedication to self-preservation has just demonstrated that it prefers to risk Trump's wrath than the public's wrath. Disney thinks Trump is less powerful than we are. The wannabe strongman is not as strong as is feared.

The Church of Charlie is heading for its first schism: the pro- and anti-Israel sects.

Many far-right wingers are insinuating, or openly saying, that Kirk was about to make a 180 on Israel, and that's what The Most Christian Right should do, to. Baked into this is the CT that the Mossad knew and killed him before he could destroy US support for Israel. The fact that Netanyahu felt the need to respond to this CT that almost no one had heard of suggests that this is the sentiment of many Kirk MAGA types. Tucker is in that camp, and Cruz dipped his toe in it. Alex Jones is moving in that direction. And Fuentes was there all along, of course.

Meanwhile, the Trump White House, donors, Tech Bros and Military Industrial Complex want to keep the war going, and they are having Netanyahu over again - next trip he'll get a free Subway Sandwich. They are just upset that the shooter is not a Muslim. Kirk was very vocally pro-Israel, fully onboard with the Evangelical Eschaton belief of the End Times requiring a strong Israel ready to be destroyed and converted for Christ to come.

It will be interesting to see if someone (Erica Kirk?) will be able to hold the ship together, or if this is going to hasten the collapse of MAGA and the Evangelical Movement.
