The sinking of MS Estonia: Case Reopened Part VII

Harry Ruotsalainen. You might scoff but he was part of the recent Estonian government working party.

He claims to have seen the diagnostic sonar tapes as an intern working on the accident. He claims it is classified information and no longer available.

To sum up:

Theses

Ruotsalainen's theory

This is how Harri Ruotsalainen drew his own conclusions about the sinking of the Estonia.

Ah, yes. The secret sonar traces nobody else saw. From the guy who claimed after the ship lost power and drifted back along its previous course it was somehow deliberately made to sink directly on top of the secret cargo which had previously been thrown into the sea. I need hardly ask whether you find that claim plausible.

And that newspaper report does not say he was part of a government working party. It says he gave testimony, presumably repeating his madcap claim.

Is this the bit you thought says the visor should be closer to the bridge?
See SOLAS v15/5 : B6 [pdf doc]

No.95 (Oct 2007) (Corr.1 Mar 2009) (Corr.2 July 2011) Recommendation for the Application of SOLAS Regulation V/15 Bridge Design, Equipment Arrangement and Procedures (BDEAP)

B 6 Fields of vision and bridge window arrangement The bridge should be designed with the aim of: - - facilitating the tasks to be performed by the bridge team and the pilot in making full appraisal of the situation and in navigating the ship safely under all operational conditions allowing for expeditious, continuous and effective information processing and decision-making by the bridge team and the pilot Ref. That says nothing about moving the visor closer to the bridge.

Nope.

For heaven's sake, the man was paraplegic - give him some space for typographical errors!!! I found his book entirely readable.
Does being paraplegic affect spelling? Proofreading? Factual accuracy?
As a reminder, I was replying to you posting that "As a former Professor of journalism, he will know the importance of verifying information and accuracy."

Imagine being several hundred pages into making your case and not knowing that one of your key witnesses is dead. :ROFLMAO:

Frankly, as our man on site, if Jay isn't willing to pop into an appropriate lecture theatre with a Ouija board and ask his late former colleague a few simple questions I don't know how he can call himself a skeptic.
