Merged Charlie Kirk shot at Utah Valley University event. / Charlie Kirk Shot And Killed

Tinfoil hat conspiracy time.

Step 1: Kill Kirk
Step 2: Large number of right wing politicians, influencers, etc.. gather for funeral
Step 3: Boom, big bada boom

We now return to our normal rational world of facts

And how I'd love to ask Krash Patel, "Can you find your ass with both hands?"Publicly, mind, using a bullhorn and with my best profile toward the cameras.

Hey, a fella can dream, can't he? Let's hear your Great Moment in Life fantasy.
And a flashlight, and a mirror, in a phonebooth, with a spotter.

It’s darkly humorous to watch MAGA turn this into the crime of the century while simultaneously proving to be inept at catching the perpetrator.
They’ve found what they think is the murder weapon, a bolt-action rifle. They believe the shooter fled to a nearby neighborhood. (UVU is surrounded by single-family residence neighborhoods.) There is photographic and video evidence of someone on the roof of a building. This isn’t too bad for the first 24 hours of an investigation where the suspect isn’t immediately caught or killed.

The outrage is real and justified. But the right has had to manufacture so much of its reasons for outrage lately that being handed a genuine one is a feeding frenzy. That’s what makes this such a dangerous escalation. The right now has a reason to continue to attack the left from a position one step higher on the moral ladder.

Hard to believe that after the political purges and allocating resources to hassle homeless people in D.C. they would struggle to solve an actual crime.
Although it’s worse lately, this has been a problem for decades. Police are generally inept at solving reported major crimes. This is why they focus on petty crime that can be easily prosecuted against people with limited means. This is why they rely on stings and setups—they have to manufacture crimes that are easier to get evidence for than crimes reported by victims.

But quite a number of experienced field agents were let go because they investigated Trump or Jan. 6. It’s likely this purge is going to come back to bite them in this case.

On the other hand, both sides of the political spectrum are well motivated to find the shooter. There’s likely to be a significant crowd source for leads.

Former UK Prime Minister says

Charlie Kirk was a hero and a patriot. It is a huge loss that he has been taken from us.

Daily Mail

It feels like the last time the world was rocked like this was during 9/11. It’s like I’m reliving it now, even though I wasn’t even alive to see it.

Something has profoundly shifted, it feels like the world is about to change.

The only good thing about the Daily Mail is that one never reads it fearing that the journalist's career choice has robbed us of a cure for cancer.

They 'think'? Are there so many laying around they are not sure that it's the right one?
Come to Utah sometime.

So if all that is true, it's possible that someone who had nothing to do with it turned himself in for whatever reason, and when the cops found out about it they hit him with the obstructing justice charge just for wasting their time.
Oh yes. Making a false report to police in connection with a criminal investigation is obstruction of justice, and it is very commonly charged here in the 3rd district. (Orem is in the 4th district.)

Except as provided in Subsection (5), an actor commits obstruction of justice in a criminal investigation or proceeding if the actor, with intent to hinder, delay, or prevent the investigation, apprehension, prosecution, conviction, or punishment of any person regarding conduct that constitutes a criminal offense...provides false information regarding a suspect, a witness, the conduct constituting an offense, or any other material aspect of the investigation.
Utah Code § 76-8-306(2)(j).

I think there’s an argument to be made that the right has less of a motivation and it wouldn’t surprise me if they dragged their heels a bit.

They are benefitting from the shooter being a nameless, faceless avatar of everything they hate. An actual person might create complications for them.

Good point. Until the shooter is identified, it's whoever you want it to be.

Yeah, consider how much violence they promised after Trump was shot at. They were convinced a trans-gay-immigrant-Muslim had done the shooting until details trickled in. Now they are happy to talk about Trump raising his fist but ignore the shooters actual politics.

But remember no one was actually killed at the attempt to assassinate Trump..... Well no one important anyway.

What transgender and antifascist ideology could you possibly engrave on a bullet? What does antifascist ideology even look like? "Made in the USA?"
