Whenever the administration talks about the military deployment making it safe to walk around the city, I always think of the joke about the magic rock that repels tigers.

We could have had this. But now instead of enjoying fall colors and pumpkin spiced lattes, we are fighting like hell for our voting rights and worrying about Russia striking on Poland. I will never understand it.
 
In fairness to the media, their job is to report the news not make it. Why doesn't the media ask trump why he claimed to have never been on Epstein’s plane despite DOJ-released documents showing he was on the plane eight times? First, maybe they have asked. Second, it's almost a given trump wouldn't provide an honest answer even if asked. The news media are reporters of news, not prosecutors. There's a line there somewhere that needs to be drawn. Finally, it is abundantly clear that trump has and will retaliate against the media -- both individual reporters as well as the organizations they work for -- if they report something he doesn't like. I'm sure that has an effect.

But the media HAS documented the times trump flew on Epstein's plane. For instance, ABC News reported almost two months ago:
  • A flight with Epstein and one other person from Teterboro, NJ to Palm Beach, FL on April 23, 1993
  • A flight with Epstein from Palm Beach, FL to Teterboro, NJ on April 26, 1993
  • A flight with Epstein, Maxwell, and two others from Palm Beach, FL to Teterboro, NJ on Oct. 11, 1993
  • A flight with Epstein, Maxwell, and three others from Palm Beach, FL to Teterboro, NJ on Oct. 17, 1993
  • A flight with Epstein, Marla Trump, Tiffany Trump, a nanny, and one other person from Palm Beach, FL to Washington, DC on May 15, 1994
  • A flight with Epstein, Marla Trump, Tiffany Trump, and a nanny from Washington, DC to Teterboro, NJ on May 15, 1994
  • A flight with Epstein, Maxwell, Eric Trump, and four others from Palm Beach, FL to Teterboro, NJ on Aug. 13, 1995.
  • A flight with Epstein, Maxwell, and five others from Palm Beach, FL to Newark, NJ on January 5, 1997

Lance Gooden on Trump potentially sending troops to Louisiana: "The only thing I'm not so sure of is whether or not the mayor of New Orleans would like having them there, but it's not going to be up to her. Just normalizing the military occupation/intimidation of blue cities, which is definitely not fascism or attempting to suppress the vote or anything.
