Trump's Second Term

The Avengers fought a one-shot villain back in the 1970s, an arrogant businessman who found out he was terminally ill and decided there was no reason for the world to continue to exist if he wasn't in it. He had a device created that would destroy the world when he died.
For some reason, I keep thinking of that character. I'm not sure why.
That might have been the plot to the Spawn movie too, maybe.

It's at least *somewhat* plausible that Trump was an FBI informant on Epstein. He obviously would not volunteer any personal info out of the goodness of his heart, but if he himself was at risk of being implicated, he could offer a lot of inside info to investigators that would enable them to fully prove Epstein's guilt, in return for immunity. That would have been a deal done involving just a handful of people with complete confidentiality. Trump is fond of deals, after all. It would certainly explain his reluctance for full release of the files, because in them he would be named as an informant, not as a possible co-conspirator. (and obviously he would be a redacted name on the list) But if was revealed that he was an informant, then that begs the question of what he knew and how he knew it. Trump obviously would not want that can of worms opened.
Why would the FBI need him as an informer. Tap his phones and before long the blabbermouth will give you everything for free.

Since before I joined this board I have been saying the Democrats need marketing skills. So 20 years later not much has changed.
Even if you have the best marketing skills in the world, it won't matter a damn if what works is the stuff you don't want to work. The Dem leadership shoot themselves in the foot every time because they only crow about the stuff they do to make Americans worse off, not what they do to make them better off.

Meh...I mildly disagree. I think even has-been mediums with their 'I hear an 'm" person' are more astute conmen than Trump.
He has been very adept at branding himself. which arguably is a form of con.
But mostly I think he just hit the lottery and rode the perfect storm of an unhappy electorate latching on to a celebrity. Just pure luck, much in the way Musk became the richest man not so much because of his smarts but because of a series of fortuitous choices and circumstances.
Once he gained power, it wasn't so much his talent at conning that kept him powerful--it was the right wing machine that latched on to him that did the conning, and a lot of unhappy people who conned themselves into thinking he would be their savior.
When you start with the kind of silver spoons in your mouth that TACO or the Galaxy Nazi did, it's a lot harder to fail than to succeed (unless you royally piss off your father at an early age).

It's illuminating that TACO's been an utter failure most of his life (especially since his father's advisers died or left), and the Galaxy Nazi is running his scams into the ground.

Bodies. Meaning Bodies.

Trump: “So they have hostages, It could be a little bit less than 20, you know, they tend to die. Even though they’re young people, they’re dying. Young people don’t die. Young people stay alive…We have about 38 bodies. Bodies. Meaning bodies”

He is traveling by plane and helicopter. I think this is a smaller version of the presidential plane so they can land anywhere.
Yet they take him back to the White House every day. This is all to prove he is not dying.

Deported do NOT add to unemployed figures.
harlowsmusings
Fox News: "Jobs are down because illegals are gone. When 2 million illegals leave the country, you won't have as many people working." 🤦🏽‍♀️ Who's gonna tell these

Thanks, I'd never seen that before.

ETA: I now have a new 'thing' at the top of my xmas list.
The thing I had forgotten is the faked crowd's roar of approval at his warm fraternal revolutionary greeting. They played pre-recorded enthusiastic crowd sounds over the PA at the real crowd who were sullen and silent. All except for the front row, which very bravely began a clap and chant of protest.

Pay up, scumbag!

A Second Circuit panel, in a per curiam opinion, has unanimously affirmed the $83.3 million judgment against Trump in Caroll 1.

Final paragraph.
We hold that the district court did not err in any of the challenged rulings and that the jury's duly rendered damages awards were reasonable in light of the extraordinary and egregious facts of this case. For the reasons set forth above, we AFFIRM the district court's judgment.
