Firefighters battling a wildfire have to halt their work for three hours because... Their camp was raided by ICE. Including people from Native American tribes (who are of course as we know illegally occupying the land in blatant violation of manifest destiny). Two firefighters were arrested. While fighting a huge wildfire.
The administration and their thugs don't care about anything but inflicting cruelty. Disaster relief? Nope. Keeping covid from killing a million people? What's in it for me, shut up, get the ◊◊◊◊ out of my room, I'm eating hamberders! Do farmers need people to harvest their crosp? ◊◊◊◊ them. Wildfires? Lots of people in the same place, let's do a Gestapo raid!

The cost of dealing with thousands of court cases for a start. And if even one goes against them, although they won't pay, it's a PR nightmare. If lots go against them it's a serious ballot issue.

Unknown officers arrest Ohio woman—hand her over to ICE in secluded parking lot.
Officers reach in through car window and forcibly drag her out—after refusing to show badge numbers.
Then drive her around town to the back of a bank parking lot—hand her over to group of men that she later learned were ICE agents.
At least one of the officers detaining her in this video appears to wear a badge for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Marlen Ortiz Soto is a 24-year-old woman who is legally seeking asylum from violent attacks against her in Honduras.
She was scheduled to attend a hearing on her case in September—now she is locked up without bail in Butler County, Ohio.

Interesting that DHS is now using the language of Hamas, an Islamo-Fascist group. Ironic. But I guess appropriate, as they are now taking on Fascist ideology and tactics.

Of course I don't know if the story is true, but yes, this does sound like the kind of thing that will happen when the government gives you permission to be your worst.
Kinda difficult to tell who is actually illegal, though, let's start demanding passports or residence permits to all brown customers. Or demand they wear an identifying symbol on their clothing.
I used to say that 'America is not yet lost', because I still had hope for some reason. No more. America is lost. Fascism has taken over. I don't like it, but it'll probably take violence to get democracy back any time soon.

Im sure CO has very strong anti discrimination laws. If this is true the store will be in big trouble. Plus the Civil Rights Act.

Civil War 2 is just a trigger pull away in a country awash with guns- I'd put odds on at least one actual shooting between different governments in the US by christmas, and outright war between the right extremists and all the 'sane' parts of the country by next christmas....
I'd LOVE to be shown to be wrong- but I am sadly thinking I am right....

I'm not an expert in any way, but I fear an outright civil war less than I fear escalating violence. From ICE and other government agents, gravy seal militias and just random hateful citizens, and from resistance fighters and increasingly pissed off liberals, and, eventually, probably terrorists on both sides of the aisle. You just need to look at the last century and the past decades to know how much violence and cruelty the US state is capable of.

Not an either/or situation...
Increasing violence- almost a certainty - the US already has unidentified people roaming the streets abducting people without even a semblance of adhering to the legal rights they are supposed to have there... they are supposed to be ICE- but who can actually tell- with no ID or anything visible, and no requirement for them to ID themselves, it could just as easily be any random group of rightwing racists looking to 'disappear' anyone they don't like...
And with having trump sending in out of state military units already into 'blue states' (the National Guard is a military force to all intents and purposes) and wanting to use actual military units as well into 'those states' he has decreed enemies- and blue states already saying hell no and forming resistance (and remember they have their own NG units in most cases many of those locals who have certainly no love of the right wing and their jackbooted/red hatted intruders in their own state) how long before there is indeed 'armed confrontations' between actual military style forces in the streets???

They block ICE with municipal vehicles, ICE retaliates by firing upon those blockading them (and seriously how many here think ICE 'agents' WOULDN'T fire on such a blockade???) The local cops and Nat Guard respond in kind firing on ICE- and well- its all goes downhill from there....
Tell me that is SOOO unlikely....
