Trump's Second Term

His new statistician will be able to produce numbers that prove him right.
Indeed. The most obvious thing in the world right now is that Trump is going to turn up with some cherry-picked statistic, declare it a Democrat-caused disaster and announce his next step on the path to literal dictatorship.

Any journalist who fails to fully anticipate this and doesn't turn up fully briefed to call out the lies should just hand in their press pass now.

Pete Hegseth reposted this CNN segment about a pastor who says women shouldn’t vote: “In my ideal society, we would vote as households. I would ordinarily be the one to cast the vote…” said the pastor

Totally normal. Not crazy at all.

What an interesting comparison with Britain, where racists assume this is true in patriarchal Pakistani-descended families - the father somehow votes for the whole family - and it's foreign and sinister and should be stamped out.

One of those criminals already occupies and has full control of the White House.
There we are, then. It's Washington's equivalent to Crimea. (Perhaps more crime-here, amirite?)

And Trump's press conference will explain how he intends to de-Nazify the rest of Washington by taking it under his direct control. Wait till you see the benefits of benign dictatorship, citizens. It'll be amazing. You won't believe it.

One of the people who views The Handmaid's Tale as a fantasy, not a warning, no doubt.

Eta Fantasy as in something they fantazise about and aspire to make their own society into.

sam hyde and nick fuentes discuss the trump presidency, starting at 37ish minutes. the good news is, nick fuentes feels that trump has lost the script. the bad news is he concludes trump isn't radical enough and is preventing a true hitler-esque leader from taking power.

if you don't know who these guys are, they're prominent social media alt right influencers. nick fuentes is basically a gay white supremacist, sam hyde a bitter about being cancelled for his alt right views comedian

I've been away on family time for about a week, so I'm skipping part of this thread. If I poke at something already poked, that was not my intention, but it probably deserved more poking, anyways.
This isn't wrong. We see right through him.

The White House
@WhiteHouse
The Most Transparent President in History. 🇺🇸

I find myself wondering. Is this related at all?

Appeals court rules Trump clamp-down on spending data defies Congress’ authority
An order issued Saturday evening by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals panel gives the administration until Friday to restore the data online.
A federal appeals court panel shot down a Trump administration bid to make secret a public database of federal spending that researchers say is crucial to ensure the administration is not flouting Congress’ power of the purse.

There's lots more examples of the Trump Administration's extreme anti-transparency actions, of course, though I suppose that all they're really reacting to is Epstein, probably. Speaking of Epstein -

According to Michael Wolff, Donald Trump has spent recent days making desperate phone calls to his closest allies. And what is he saying on those calls? Not policy. Not campaign strategy. But this:

“You know I didn’t kill Epstein, right?”

Yes, really.

Wolff tells us this comes directly from someone who just spoke to Trump. And when that person asked Trump if he believed Epstein was killed, Trump’s response? “A lot of people wanted him dead.”

Whether Trump killed Epstein, merely paved the way for others to do it, or had nothing to do with his death is difficult to solidly conclude based on the evidence at hand, sure, but we have every reason to distrust him.

Moving on,

"I won the presidential vote so I'm entitled to rig the congressional vote."

The path to dictatorship is paved with... well whatever the rose garden is paved with probably.

...At one point during the family time, my heavily influenced by FOX Republican father suddenly made a "joke" unprompted that boiled down to "Republicans are just gerrymandering what those complaining Democrats gerrymandered." Nevermind that Republicans are much, much worse than Democrats on the gerrymandering front, both in number and severity, and that the current already absurdly extreme Texas gerrymander was done by Republicans. At another point, he also decided to try to push COVID/anti-vax disinformation based on serious omissions of relevant facts about what those numbers actually were for.

If that wasn't bad enough, there's plenty more there, as elaborated a bit more in Pete Hegseth retweets support for theocracy, denying women the vote, slavery and criminalizing gays. This is our government under Republican rule. **** those who delusionally thought that it would be fine.

The more I've seen of the white house decorations, the more I'm convinced they're cheap plastic inserts. They have the sheen of gold coloured plastic.
I've read they identified some of the stuff glued on the walls as "decorative foam ornaments" you can buy online for cheap.

Trump won't find out they're not actually gold until/unless he leaves office, when he'll try to take it all with him.

President Trump has previously mentioned taking direct, personal, control over Washington DC, I suspect that this will be the announcement and that he will claim that once he takes control, crime will simply evaporate as a result of his iron rule.

Of course Washington DC's crime rate, whilst bad, is nowhere near as bad as the GOP would have us believe but that isn't the point, the whole idea is to keep the fear going. With complete control over Washington DC, the GOP can then claim whatever crime statistics they choose, and then use that as an excuse to implement direct control over the blue states.
It's all regality theory with this bunch. People are more willing to accept authoritarian rule if they are convinced they are in danger and under siege by malevolent forces. That's why everything's always a "war" even when it's not: drugs, immigrants, communists, satanists: all these sinister forces plotting and attacking you and the only way to be safe is to give more power and authority to the leader, and stop asking questions and demanding services that divert from the mission of surviving these crises.

Donald says more about DC

Homeless People have to move out immediately!

They are going to be rounded up and put somewhere 'far away' apparently.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump
We're having a News Conference tomorrow in the White House. I'm going to make our Capital safer and more beautiful than it ever was before. The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital. The Criminals, you don't have to move out. We're going to put you in jail where you belong. It's all going to happen very fast, just like the Border. We went from millions pouring in, to ZERO in the last few months. This will be easier - Be prepared! There will be no "MR. NICE GUY." We want our Capital BACK. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

President Trump is close to securing the most significant diplomatic accomplishment in my lifetime, and he's doing it by focusing on peace and bringing an end to the conflict.

America is lucky to have this kind of bold leadership at such a pivotal moment in world history.
