In fairness, since its reveal it's seemed to my eye the new surfacing isn't too awful. A little jarring compared with the previous area, but not altogether tasteless in and of itself. Maybe even okay. However, add the patio furniture & umbrellas and it now looks all kinds of cheap and tacky and Comfort Inny, certainly considering the context of the adjacent buildings.
What's next, a swimming pool and hot tub?
