The Truth about RFK Jr

At Beyond the Noise Dr. Paul Offit discussed RFK Jr's cutting off funding for GAVI. He wrote, "GAVI, which was founded in 2000, has vaccinated about 1.1 billion children in the world, saving an estimated 20 million lives, especially in resource-poor countries. GAVI’s efforts have halved the childhood mortality rate in about 80 countries." RFK Jr cited a single study from about forty years ago. "In other words, one ancient, poorly performed, irreproducible study using vaccines that are irrelevant to today that RFK Jr. called “landmark,” is the reason for putting hundreds of millions of children at unnecessary risk. “Of all the global health programs that have been cut,” said Dr. Atul Gawande, who has overseen global health work for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), “this will likely mean more deaths than any other.”"

Children's health doesn't matter to RFK Jr. Denial of health care is the be all and end all of his existence. After all, it has done wonders for him! ;)

I did a very similar hike just over a month ago, in essentially the same weather conditions.

I wore a long-sleeved nylon hiking shirt and long nylon pants. Unlike RFK Jr's shirt, which was soaked with sweat, my shirt was splotched white and stiff with salt when I reached the summit. Nylon dries faster than cotton.

The main reason I almost always hike or backpack in long sleeves and long pants is that, for many years, I lived in a tick-infested part of the country where mosquitos and flies were intolerably thick for about a month of every hiking season. I have also backpacked in several western areas where the mosquitos were really bad, such as the Wind River and Rawah wilderness areas.
In those kinds of locations it makes sense; I can assure you that there would be no ticks or mosquitoes and only an occasional fly on a hike of Camelback in the summer. I could see if he wore a light long-sleeve shirt like your hiking shirt to protect himself from the sun, but jeans? Nobody wears jeans in the summer here unless they are really embarrassed about their legs. Maybe tracks from his junkie days?

‘The House Will Take A Short Recess,’ Declares Mike Johnson Dousing Capitol In Gasoline

WASHINGTON—Saying he hoped the break would keep his party focused on the America First agenda, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) announced plans Thursday for the House of Representatives to take a short recess as he doused the U.S. Capitol in gasoline. “We know that the American people are best served by putting an end to these Democratic sideshows on Jeffrey Epstein, and that’s exactly what we’re doing,” said Johnson as he splashed gasoline onto the rugs of the lower chamber, doused the curtains of the Rotunda, and drew a trail of the combustible liquid outside onto the Capitol steps. “With all due respect to my colleagues, we’re not going to let them use this Epstein stuff as a political battering ram. So we’ll be adjourning until September. There won’t be any votes on these resolutions until then.” At press time, Johnson could be heard reiterating his pride in what his party had accomplished over the past session before lighting a safety match, setting the box aflame, and pitching the entire package towards the Capitol.

In case you didn't notice, it's The Onion.

At Inside Medicine Dr. Jeremy Faust wrote, "As reported, the thimerosal vote was based on evidence from a single presentation given at the June meeting by Nurse Lyn Redwood, a longtime RFK Jr. ally from the trenches of the anti-vaccine movement. Redwood’s slide deck included errors, incorrect interpretations of scientific literature, and papers apparently hallucinated by AI. Even worse, a robust review of the related literature generated by actual CDC scientists that was initially included on the ACIP website in the days leading up to the meeting was scrubbed because it was not approved by Secretary Kennedy’s office. (The interference from Kennedy’s office was confirmed by the new ACIP chair during the June meeting.)...With ACIP’s votes on the fall flu shot in limbo (until affirmed either by Secretary Kennedy or Dr. Susan Monarez, once confirmed as CDC Director), many people have asked me whether fall flu shots will be available." The short answer is probably for adults, but for children it is less certain in practice.

Well, he will Make America Healthy Again - by killing off everyone who doesn't manage to survive his destruction of the health system. Survivor bias, right?

Darwinian Selection, those that survive will have offspring better suited to also survive next time there's a government of complete ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ morons elected.

NBC news reported, The panel had promised to feature diverse viewpoints about antidepressants and pregnancy. But nearly all of the 10 panelists bucked medical consensus on the drugs’ safety and emphasized what they said were risks of taking the drugs while pregnant — such as causing autism, miscarriages or birth defects...The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said in a statement Monday that SSRIs can be lifesaving for some pregnant people. “Today’s FDA panel on SSRIs and pregnancy was alarmingly unbalanced and did not adequately acknowledge the harms of untreated perinatal mood disorders in pregnancy,” it said."

NPR reported on the same FDA-convened panel discussion on the risks of SSRIs. Rhitu Chaterjee said, "Now, I spoke with Dr. Christopher Zahn, chief of clinical practice with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists - or ACOG - one of the groups pushing back on some of the panel's claims. He explained why the studies cited by most panelists were what he described as poor-quality evidence or nonevidence-based."

Medscape wrote, "Commenting for Medscape Medical News, Nancy Byatt, DO, MS, MBA, a perinatal psychiatrist and member of the American Psychiatric Association Council on Women’s Mental Health who attended the event, said much of the panel’s discussion was inconsistent with scientific evidence and clinical guidelines."

Roll Call quoted Dr. Marty Makary: "“The more antidepressants we prescribe, the more depression there is. The more insulin we prescribe, the more diabetes there is,” Makary said."

WTAF ia wrong with this guy?

RFK Jr told his 2nd wife, Mary, suffering from depression & health issues, that she should kill herself. Mary committed suicide. A week after her funeral, in the middle of the night, w/o obtaining required legal permitting, he had her coffin dug up from Kennedy family plot & moved 700 feet away.

At Inside Medicine Dr. Jeremy Faust wrote, "In a perfect world, most people wouldn’t have to know what the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) is. But now that the Wall Street Journal has reported that HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy may fire all of its voting members, it’s time for you to know...its publications have long been considered among the most rigorous out there. For the first three decades of its existence, USPSTF recommendations were highly respected and influential. But it was the Affordable Care Act that gave the body a special place in our healthcare system, legally requiring private health insurers to cover preventive measures that received A or B level recommendations from USPSTF research teams. That’s why today, the USPSTF carries its deliberation with transparency, requiring input from experts and public stakeholders...If the USPSTF follows the same path [as the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices], Americans could soon lose legal access to cost-free preventive services. It’s hard to imagine Secretary Kennedy would vacate the USPSTF without the intention to take away important services..As my colleague Dr. Bill Hanage recently said to me, we want evidence-based policymaking, not policy-based evidence making."

The Guardian wrote, "A top US medical body has expressed “deep concern” to Robert F Kennedy Jr over news reports that the health secretary plans to overhaul a panel that determines which preventive health measures including cancer screenings should be covered by insurance companies.

The letter from the American Medical Association comes after the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Kennedy plans to overhaul the 40-year old US Preventive Services Task Force because he regards it as too “woke”, according to sources familiar with the matter."
