I feel this needs repeating a number of times in this inane fixation about semantics about race.
This is the same president that has shown utter contempt for any laws and conventions with a cadre of armed thugs acting out his wishes.

Mamdani refuses to condemn Globalized Intifada AND lied about his ancestry on his college application. Its a problem. But not insurmountable.

However, his agenda for NYC is fantastical pie-in-the-sky silliness and I think NYC voters will see through it.

Someone who promises to do everything will likely achieve nothing.

How does that in any way address the point I raised.
Sure anyone suggesting policies slightly left of center (for the rest of the world) has little chance of winning in the US.

But that does not change the fact that Trump openly hinted on having him stripped of his rights and deported.

In America, his views are EXTREME left of center, and that's all that matters.

He also, ironically like Trump, seems to think that a Mayor has a lot more power than it actually legally has.

He is promising things that he legally CANNOT do.
 
Let me correct a couple misapprehensions. First of all, Mamdani did not claim his race was African-American. The application asked for Ethnicity/Race information. I hope I don't have to point out here that ethnicity is not the same thing as race. Second, the assumption that he was trying to get in line for racial preferences is not borne out by the application itself, which specifies that the info is optional and for government recordkeeping and reporting only.

The application clearly asks the following question: "what is your race?"

He gave two answers: Asian & African-American/black. Which is a lie.

He has ZERO black ancestry.

Second, the NYTimes article clearly states that this info could have been used for Affirmative Action purposes and give him a boost.

No, it also matters what the electorate's views are. Newsflash: New York City voters are extremely left of center. What can he really do? Not much, we agree there. So even the damage he can do to the Big Apple is pretty limited. Where's he going that he could do more? Another poster pointed out that the last time an NYC Mayor went on to win a bigger race was back in the 1800s.

Note also that you are asked to state ORIGINS. In each case, in order;
Born Uganda, Parents Indian

Continuing to claim the census states Black/African American or Black AND African American is your lie, not ours.

I'm not surprised you'd support Republican accusations based on race or colour.
Seems you support removing any brown person's citizenship just like any dictatorship (Idi Amin for crying out loud).
