Trump's Second Term

Trump couldn't pick a flute out of a lineup of musical instruments and kitchen gadgets if his life depended on it. He just saw "Les Mis" at the Kennedy Centre, and someone told him one of the noises was caused by a flute. The word is still stuck in his straw-filled head. Then, of course, he had to lie about it.

No Donny, thats really where it goes, yes I know it can be a bit cold. Now sit down. Hard...

Someone tell him about the Cold War

Trump: "Russia fought with us in WWII and everybody hates them. And Germany and Japan, they're fine — some day somebody will explain that...Everybody hates Russia and they love Germany and Japan...It's a strange world."

Like so many of his other statements, surely this on its own should be enough to trigger impeachment on the grounds of incompetence.

When I was in college I took a History of Japan class as an elective. My mother's reaction was "Why do you want to study them? They attacked us." This was more than 50 years after the war, and she was born in 1944, so she had no personal experience with Pearl Harbor or World War II. I can only assume there was some heavy indoctrination of children in some areas back then which carried over into adulthood for some people.

You aren't wrong. I was born in 1959, and I watched unedited Warner Brothers cartoons that were leftovers from the WWII era, including all the ones that depicted Hitler and Japanese soldiers getting their butts kicked by Gremlins, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, even though the war was 20+ years in the past at that point. So a lot of that stuff was unintentionally ingrained in us.

My mother in law was 7 when the war finished. She still hate the Germans and Japanese till the day she died.
Wouldn't have anything German or Japanese in the house.. Would refuse to ride in a German or Japanese car, wouldn't even have Varta brand batteries because they made them for the U-boats.

“The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily blocked a lower court ruling that ordered Trump to return control of California’s National Guard to the state. The decision pauses U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer’s finding that the president’s deployment of the Guard was unlawful.”We’ll show them tomorrow that we are legion and we aren’t going to accept a fascist regime.

This is a stress test of federalism.Of civilian control of the military.Of whether courts, states, and citizens can hold the line when a president decides he doesn’t need permission. The map is drawn. The machines are moving. And the country is watching.10/10

Not to mention that if you could play the instrument, wouldn't you know the correct word for someone who does?
It's an old-fashioned word, "flute", not many people know this --did you know this? I didn't know this; I'm the one that knew it, I said "flute" and it means a pipe with things on it, and everyone, the music people, they said they didn't know that. And I was the greatest at it, but I never did it, didn't have time but I would have been, they would have said I was the best. Biden couldn't flute, he destroyed flutes in this country. With windmills.

Trump: We can't take farmers and take their people and send them back because they don't have what they are supposed to have… You are supposed to throw them out? You know what happens? They end up hiring the criminals that have come in, murderers

Obviously I'd like some dressing with that word salad, but is Trump now suggesting that if you're an illegal immigrant who has been in the US for a significant amount of time in gainful employment (in all sectors, or just a few like hospitality and agriculture ?) then you won't be deported, or at least not actively targeted for deportation ?

Is this a reversion to an earlier "pledge" to only deport bad people ?

Of course Trump has no idea permanence so whatever this nonsense means, he'll likely reverse it in a matter of hours.

How do you interrogate people to find out if they are farmers or drug smugglers? They could just be smuggling in that crop they are collecting.
