Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

Why not?
Iran has been more reasonable, reliable and open to negotiations that Israel, and only once has it directly retaliated against Israel.
Israel has attacked Iran many times in violation of international law.

If anyone shouldn't have nukes in the Middle East, it's obviously Israel with a history of starting wars and committing genocide

Let's keep in mind that it is military consensus that Israel doesn't have the weapons necessary to actually hit shielded Iran nuclear sites.
This attack cannot stop Irans development of nukes.

But it can force Iran to actually build them for self preservation, something it could have done for years but choose not to.

You simply have to be joking. “Iran” and “reasonable” simply cannot be used in the same sentence.

Why exactly can Israel commit atrocities any other country would be sanctioned for?
Those defending this would also be ok with (for instance) Mexico attacking Texas because they feel threatened by the actions of the current US president?
Agree with Putin that his attack on Ukraine was justified?
Feel that China has a good reason to invade its neighbours?

If a nation was on the verge of nuclear weapons and had a state policy of destroying its neighbour, the only action is to destroy the capacity to build nukes. It’s insane to sit back and wait for the nukes to be aimed at you.

We would hardly be cheering on India if it was blasting Pakistan prior to it getting a nuclear weapon.

Besides, there was another option that had been pursued and that was the Iran nuclear deal that Obama negotiated and Trump tore up.

I predict China creating a large alliance to condemn and isolate Israel in response - even Japan is already on record condemning the attack.

the point of this attack has nothing to do with nukes.

It's to further isolate Israel, forcing the US to stand by it no matter what.
Israel is depleting its ammunitions for no military reason, and Iran's response will deplete its interceptors.

Time for US taxpayers to pay for more missiles for Israel !

in comparisons to Israel?
Iran is not invading an occupying its neighbours. Despite Israel routinely assassinating Iranian leaders and scientists and bombing the country and its oil infrastructure, Iran has been incredibly measured in its responses.

Please make the effort to check, with a bit of distance, who has been the aggressor in this conflict.

Do you think this attack will make Israel safer?

What's worse is he only tore it up because Obama made it. If that deal had stayed in place Israel wouldn't have a reason to attack Iran. So Trump is directly responsible for this war for a pathetically petty reason. But it's not all his fault. The 62,984,828 enablers who voted for him in 2016 share it too.

BTW for those who have forgotten, Hillary got 65,853,514 votes in that election, 4.6% more than Trump. How different the World might be now if the popular candidate had won!

But wait, how did Trump win with a minority of votes? A few key states went his way, helped there by... Russia. So Putin and his enablers share the blame too!

Iran has vowed to destroy Israel. Did you somehow miss that? It’s entirely reasonable for them to degrade the nuclear capability of such an atagonistic nation.

And yes, Israel will be safer if Iran does not have nukes.

More reports coming out that the attack targeted people, not nuclear sites - multiple high ranking Revolutionary Guard members and Nuclear Scientists seem to have been killed by strikes on apartment buildings.

This against the backdrop that negotiations to defuse the threat of nuclear armament by Iran were to start on Sunday.
a deal between Iran and the US was the nightmare Netanyahu was trying to prevent with this attack - and he probably succeeded.

Have you looked at a map and checked population numbers between Israel and Iran?
If Iran really, really wanted to destroy Israel, it could have done so a number of times. And it doesn't require a functioning nuke to do so - a dirty bomb or two would do the trick, and Iran had the material for that for decades and didn't give it to any terrorist group.

Meanwhile, Israel refuses any inspection of its nuclear arsenal, which is in complete violation of nuclear proliferation obligations.

Iran has been conducting proxy wars against its enemies all over the Middle East. Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen have all been destabilised and turned into conflict zones (or had those conflicts amplified ) as a direct result of Iranian activities. Your apologetics for this are shameful.

Population numbers? Surely another joke.

Egypt would have destroyed Israel, right? How many days did that war last?

Do you think there is anything Israel could do to permanently destroy Iran's ability to fight?
Dropped your population “argument” I see. That’s wise.

The armies (including reservists) of Iran and Israel are not widely different in size. The lessons Iran need to learn is not to develop nukes and avoid war with Israel at all costs.

I think Libya and Ukraine (and North Korea) have already shown that the lessons in international geopolitics is the reverse of “get rid of your nukes”.

Maybe Pakistan and India having nukes might also have led to a state of mutually assured destruction enabling a climbdown a month or so ago.

I think Japan and many other countries should think more seriously about getting nukes now that the US is getting shaky on any commitment to defend Japan, Taiwan and South Korea.

The UK is even beginning to think about the folly of handing over its own nuclear deterrent to what is effectively dependent on the US.

The new world (dis)order being heralded by Trump is that in order to defend yourself you need nukes.

Now, one counter argument often given is that Iran doesn’t even want to survive. It just wants nukes to bring on the apocalypse because they are such theocratic nutters (of course we know full well this is true of some of Israel’s cabinet members), but then it makes any argument about what Iran “needs to learn” completely fatuous.

*SIGH* Like everything else, all that Trump touches turns to feces.

Donald Trump is desperate to play ‘peacemaker’ – he’s just had a nuclear setback

On the campaign trail, US President Donald Trump promised to end the world’s hottest conflicts and usher in global peace.

But nearly five months in, with Israel attacking Iran and bloodshed in Gaza and Ukraine unabated, those hopes are in shambles.
..........
The strikes appear to be a snub to Trump, who had repeatedly pushed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to attack Iran, though the president himself had threatened to bomb the Gulf nation if nuclear talks failed.

“Trumpian diplomacy is one of the first casualties of these attacks,” said Brett Bruen, a foreign policy adviser to former Democratic president Barack Obama.

“He has struggled to even get close to a ceasefire (in Gaza), let alone peace in any major conflict. Iran was looking the most promising - and Netanyahu just spoiled it.”
