Saturday's protests will amount to millions. Trump will be unhappy. Soros did not pay them.
Hey, Pete. The federal law enforcement officers didn't need to even be there. The LA police had it under control in the first place, and it was hardly a biggie. Sending in the Marines is just an unnecessary escalation. Likely they don't want to be there either, but they are obeying orders. The Marines have been deployed, they are on their way to occupy LASecretary of Defense Pete Hegseth
@SecDef
Due to increased threats to federal law enforcement officers and federal buildings, approximately 700 active-duty U.S. Marines from Camp Pendleton are being deployed to Los Angeles to restore order.
We have an obligation to defend federal law enforcement officers - even if Gavin Newsom will not.
There's always money in the banana stand.Shades of "it's a banana, Michael, how much could it cost?"
yup.Doesn't sending the Marines violate Posse Comitatus?
AP News said:Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Monday removed every member of a scientific committee that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on how to use vaccines and pledged to replace them with his own picks.
Major physicians and public health groups criticized the move to oust all 17 members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
Kennedy, who was one of the nation’s leading anti-vaccine activists before becoming the nation’s top health official, has not said who he would appoint to the panel, but said it would convene in just two weeks in Atlanta.
New York Times said:Three Democratic members of Congress from California and two from New York said over the weekend that they were barred from entering federal detention centers in their respective states to check on people who were detained in immigration raids or in protests against the raids.
All five members — Representatives Maxine Waters, Jimmy Gomez and Norma Torres of California and Representatives Adriano Espaillat and Nydia Velázquez of New York — said that they should have been allowed to enter the buildings as members of Congress.
Not sure this is the flex Gavin thinks it is. They have indoor plumbing, no mud, no mosquitoes, no snakes, and they have 5G. Beats Fort Irwin or Hunter-Liggett. The NG slept on the floor of the US Capitol Building in 2020. Goes with the job. It's not a FOB in Syria. And Newsom dragged his feet, he should have deployed these guys before Donny T, along with the CHP in force to shut things down.
Not really. There are a couple of loop-holes that allow it with restrictions. In 1993 Bush deployed the 7thID out of Fort Ord, CA down to the LA Riots (Operation Garden Plot). They guarded key facilities like the power substation in El Segundo, and other key locations. While they were fully armed, they had strict ROE, and since many of the soldiers were from LA they knew how to handle the locals (Hey Ese, don't make us kill you). 2nd Brigade was down there about two weeks along with the CANG. Today USMC Cobra gunships were flying over downtown, and gave me flashbacks to 93 when Army Cobras were down there.Doesn't sending the Marines violate Posse Comitatus?
Yeah, my first thought when I saw those images was 'I have seen that somewhere'.Not sure this is the flex Gavin thinks it is. TheHill said:Hundreds of staffers from across the National Institutes of Health (NIH) are speaking out against the politicization of their research and termination of their work while demanding that the drastic changes made at the agency be walked back.
In a letter addressed to NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya, more than 2,000 signatories stated, “we dissent to Administration policies that undermine the NIH mission, waste public resources, and harm the health of Americans and people across the globe.”
The BBC site is running a live coverage page, should anyone be interested.Hey, Pete. The federal law enforcement officers didn't need to even be there. So what's going to make you and Trump happy? The Marines gunning down US civilians and making the streets of LA run red with blood? I'm sure that's what some people in the White House want. And when the horrible realisation hits that you have started a civil war in the USA, and it will be a spectacularly low point in US history, guess who the White House will blame. Yep, it will be you, not them. You're the patsy. Good luck!
Well, they had booked rooms in a Four Seasons for them, but someone had made a mistake, and they had to bunk down in the stockroom of the Four Seasons landscaping instead. The Jarheads in Pendleton are seeing these photos in the midst of their deployment and wondering what the four diamonds they have gotten themselves into.
I hate Trump and though this deployment totally uncessary and stupid, but hey ,I slept in worse then that when I wan in the US Army. The carefully planned federalization and deployment of thousands of California National Guard troops assured their luxury accommodations for the night. Being debated as we speak. The posse Comitatus law does not absolutely forbid the use of Regular Federal Troops to enforce civil law, but puts severe restrictions on it. Whether or not Trump had enough grounds for doing this is being hotly discusses.Doesn't sending the Marines violate Posse Comitatus?
Worst power grab yet by Benedict Donald. Not really. There are a couple of loop-holes that allow it with restrictions. In 1993 Bush deployed the 7thID out of Fort Ord, CA down to the LA Riots (Operation Garden Plot). They guarded key facilities like the power substation in El Segundo, and other key locations. Congress could fix those loop holes any time they want, but...
WHich would be paraside compared to some places US Marines have slept in.Well, they had booked rooms in a Four Seasons for them, but someone had made a mistake, and they had to bunk down in the stockroom of the Four Seasons landscaping instead.
This isn't true. Federal troops were deployed against the wishes of state and local officials several times during the civil rights era.But one biggied is that ever since the Civil War, Federal Troops this has been done only with the consent of the State and Local CIvil Authoraties.
This did not happen here.
