Ed Applying luma curve to photos and footage

In an abundance of fairness, he signaled his unfair intent from the start. Why on earth are you backing his anti-social and anti-reason choices?
Because some people are more socially skilled, and can read the room and gage their own tone with ease. For some of us, it can be a little more daunting, and responses hit all over the emotion wheel. I vote to give him a chance to find his feet with the forum. No skin off anyone's nose to let a few overzealous exchanges be overlooked, yeah?
Do you really think we're too stupid to tell the difference between a sincere confusion and a willful ignorance?
Nope. But I'd think seasoned forum members have surely seen awkward engagement clean up after a newbie gets more comfortable. I think.the brother is making the effort, even if he's not all the way there just yet.

You didn't read his post in the welcome new members section, did you? Find his footing? This is someone who is standing exactly where he wants to stand.

This isn't that, my guy. You're intentionally coddling intentional bad behavior.

Everyone who's been nicer has only encouraged the antisocial and willful ignorance.
This will always be a problem when someone has an incentive to mischaracterize any critical response as a personal attack. Where then do we draw the line between civility and coddling clear error?

And in this case he’s been all over the map. Before he started ignoring me he went from leaving messages of profuse thanks and praise to vilifying me in just a few hours with no input from me. He’s unstable. Therefore I plan to keep my standards right where they’ve always been.

I did, and responded to him, because I smelled it in the very first post. He turned quickly appreciative. Maybe I'm wrong, but I like to cut a lot more slack than necessary. I've appreciated it when it was cut to me.

It doesnt go on indefinitely. Ya hits a point where plausible deniability runs out. Like maybe one more refusal to cite sources directly, or another screenshot.

None of you are wrong. I just think if we extend the benefit of doubt a bit longer and a bit quicker in situations like this, we'd have a more interesting a forum.

ETA: Especially the plausibility deniability bit. How many times can you politely be asked for a link?

How would you know, he has know idea what you've said for after your first post!
Joke

In an abundance of fairness, he said right from the jump that he only claimed to identify oddities and inconsistencies that are voluminous enough to lead to the question "was the investigation thorough enough?"

Actually, he rejected the investigations outright, and I have been trying to persuade him to say why for a long time now, with no result.
Yes, it's a little JAQy and he's hedging his bets, but he does not claim to have a serious counter narrative to The Official Story.

Well, apart from dismissing the 911 Commission and the NIST Reports as 'conspiracy theories', and claiming the videos of the event were somehow pre-recorded that is. He seems quite sure of himself there. It's only when we try to get him to move from what he doesn't believe to what he does believe that things start to get vague. Then there's the attitude. It's not like he's arrived on this forum with questions about the anomalies he thinks he's found. No: he's come here to tell us how smart he is for figuring stuff out, he refuses to accept expert correction and input, and he won't engage in any kind of dialogue with anyone.
Much as with Bartholomew West, I started with kindness and a willingness to listen. That has been swiftly eroded by nt1, just as it was by BW. There will be no more olive branches from me until nt1 tones down the attitude and indicates he is willing to talk, rather than lecture.

This is the second guy to come in here using ChatGTP to respond to our posts, and make his own. It goes nowhere. The question is if this is what trolling looks like in 2025, or is this what the under 30 crowd is using instead of their own words and thoughts, or is this just some third-world tech guy posting here to improve ChatGTP's "knowledge base"?

Either way, AI seems to be overrated at this point in time.

@nt1, you've shown those pics before. They were considered, and opined by literal professionals to be not evidence of masking, and the same effect was even recreated here on the forum by JayUtah using his own avatar and the famous Tianamen square pic.

How you doing on argumentation for the other issues you brought up?

Eta: and please follow through and sustain your discussion points. Dropping a provocative post and vanishing, never to return to the points made, is considered... let's say less than persuasive.
I will first start with my rebuttal that the luma curve exposing the alpha halo or boards is a first step to investigating a composite photo and its artifacts.

In my opinion. I have shown. Personal work. Second, personal photo used as example. And links to videos of others applying it.

Just say. I do not believe those photos were tampered with. Or tampered with sith ill intent. And we can dis usa that rather than the application of any photo manipulation to expose possible artifacts.

Thanks thermal. Now enjoy me ranting about your use of "literal"

please do not spam delete this. Itnis not spam or joking. It contains humor and is a mote polite way than rudely refuting fhe use of the definition of a word.

** a literal professional and a literal doctor do not need to be clarified in a point made so boldly with no attempt at discussing.

Got to stop you. Professionals. Fine. Ill ask what you mean.

Literal professionals.

Do you go to a literal doctor.

Do you go to the literal library

Do you love your literal mom

Do you literally have to literally say that they literally are literal professionals to literally prove your literal point that you we literally trying to literally make?

Doctored images wasn't going along swimmingly, but nt1 claims there are anomalies everywhere you look, and brought up flight 11 cancellations, so we're gonna look at some and see if we can carry it through to a resolution.

It is going swimmingly well. Here have some more.

72 hours. 3 days. September 14th is a heck of a start date for a 501c3 for a memorial charity.

Approx 6am pst message on answering machine.

6:39am (9:39am) message on an answering machine is a heck of a stretch of approx.

I would say thats closer to approx 7:00am pst

Its not ok to not give the FBI a copy of the message on the 12th because there are too many reporters. It is Ok to file a start date for a 501c3 as the 14th. Which by the way is also the same amount it took for the President of the United States of America to make a public appearance at ground zero. One day later than the future and current President.

So it is acceptable to have a 501c3 set up in 72 hours. Not acceptable to allow the federal government investigate a voice mail from approximately 20 minutes before the officially noted time of hijack. It is acceptable to allow a newspaper to later display this message that contains no deeply intimate communication or information. And all of this while it is documented the family victim is with child.

I personally do not believe that is proof of anything. I personally believe, if i were to match these acrions, I would find my actions wildly insensitive, inconsistent with human nature, and extremely industrious.

The day is wrong. Because it is not all right. Not alright. All right. When things arent all right, there is opportunity to revisit an investigation.

Instead. We have a victims fund at 15.8 billion pay out. Extended to 2090. With no example of any other fund for familes of any other event.

A debate and discussion are different. I am debating that there is enough public documentation to claim a poor level of investigation and a suggestion of a further or second investigation.

In my opinion. I have shown.
No, you've simply repeated the technique over and over without understanding what it does.

Personal work. Second, personal photo used as example.
Your procedure finds edges. It will produce "halos" in any image that fits certain criteria. Those criteria do not include alteration. You were offered the opportunity for a blind test, which you did not address.

And links to videos of others applying it.
No. Your videos don't show anything having to do with your purported method.

OK, this is just stream of consciousness gibberish. I'm out.
Indeed. At this point it's just performance art at best.

nt1

If I provide you with 6 pictures, three I have tampered with and three I haven't, would you be able to tell me which three are untouched?

Scorecard: nt1 presents dozens of screenshots, claiming evidence of latered tampering. They are determined under examination to be artifacts created by bumbling around with settings, and the effect recreated on the forum as a demonstration that the effect is not a result of tampering.

Conclusion: interesting exploration of digital editing effects, no evidence shown of shenanigans.

Appears to be a random change of subject with no apparent meaning. Forum awaits some semblance of explanation.

Your bot is malfunctioning and spitting out random stuff, man.

Eta: also, if the time was PST, as you claim, your timetable is an additional hour off. Throughout the month of September, Daylight Savings Time was being observed.

QED, MF.

How do I say this delicately? I think we've arrived at a point in these proceedings where we should all ease up a bit.
