I did that for him, using the famous Tiananmen Square photo. He was unimpressed, and suggested that no photograph provided by "the media" could be trusted not to have alleged tampering artifacts. That's convenient.

Complacency is usually a better explanation than malice.
Years ago I tried to formulate this into a cogent vocabulary for the Apollo hoax claims. I tried to fashion it as "forward reasoning" versus "retrospective reasoning" or "backfilling." Conspiracy theorists start with the proposition that some particular observation is the product of a hoax or conspiracy. Then they reason backwards, retrospectively, until they arrive at a narrative they think explains it. White lines in photos? That "must" be a clue from image tampering. And why were they tampering with the images? Because they wanted media material as a contingency in case the staged event didn't go to plan.
Why are the little crosshairs in Apollo photos occluded by foreground elements? Because they cut and pasted foreground elements over the background elements that contained the crosshairs. That's because they needed a lot of photos to prove they went to the Moon.
But if you start only from the premise that someone wanted to fake space missions or terrorist attacks and reason forward from there, you come up with a lot more straightforward and plausible ways to get there. Why didn't the Apollo conspirators just wait until the last step to put the crosshairs in? Why didn't the 9/11 conspirators just—you know—crash the planes? There's always an easier way to do it than the way the conspiracy theorists say. That's because they're groping for an explanation that accommodates
both the notion of a conspiracy
and the particular thing they're observing—which always has a better non-fakery explanation.
Apollo crosshairs don't survive the JPEG process. Randomly fiddling with image editing tools produces garbage in pictures.
Rarely can we debunk something so thoroughly. It's often hard to understand exactly what a conspiracy theorist has done to convince himself of something. They rarely introspect hard enough. They don't consciously acknowledge their assumptions because they're stuck in the mental process of, "Of course it works that way; there isn't any other way for it to be."
Here not only can we form a hypothesis for how
@nt1 got the results he's misinterpreting, we can duplicate the error. And because there is an underlying mathematical process that isn't at all hard to understand, we can take an analytical approach and ask, "How would the math be mathing if you broke it in this particular way?" And the predictions from the math match the empirical demonstration. There's a particular kind of scientific warm-fuzzy that accompanies that degree of consilience.
