We're going to bring light saber manufacture back to the US where it belongs! Ours are the best and the brightest. Oh wait. You noticed that our light sabers are red, and the latest Star Link fighters have X wings? So what did you think you were getting, sucker?
 
so when you're running a trade deficit, meaning you're a net importer, meaning you're buying more goods than you're selling, meaning you have more stuff and they have your dollars, is anybody curious what the chinese economy does with all those extra dollars? remember, they're not yuan so they can't use them in china, but dollars. what do they do with those dollars?

then you can think about what a reserve currency is.

then, think about why trump wants that switched so we are the chinese and they are us, so we'd be exporting stuff and receiving lots of yuan, and what we would do with all that less stuff and all that extra yuan, and why that's better to be in their situation than our current one.

Yeah, well, I can't imagine that anybody needs 7 billion dollars or fifteen golf courses, but that's what happens when you equate accumulation with need as the significant standard for what other people can have.
