General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

The best hope is that this is just a protest vote and like the Canadians and Australians when faced with giving Trumpian politicians real power they will baulk. The problem with the voters sending a message to the mainstream politicians is that the message appears to be that the voters really want politicians to make 2+2=5

The message is, "we're a bunch of bigots". Seriously, the issue here has been stopping the ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ boats, something that nothing to do with local government and everything to do with racism.

The message seems to be that voters will elect turncoat Conservative MPs to punish Labour for the last Tory government.

Unless, of course, these preening councilors get swamped by actual work, and made to effectively disappear under the paperwork about blocked drains and noisy neighbours, etc.

Also, are there any local council rules whereby if an elected councilor fails to attend enough/any council meetings then they can be expelled and a new councilor elected?

That certainly is a nice hope.

But it is stillborn. I wager that the UK will follow Trump ever more closely, doubling down on Brexit, hopping ever more enthusiastically on the oligarch bandwagon. Unlike Canada and Australia, with their significant native populations, by embracing fascism, a compliant UK fully recovers its glorious imperial past without blemish or blame. Furthermore, the Street relies heavily on the money laundering and tax evasion services it provides oligarchs the world over. Serving them is the primary means to earn ones daily bread for the UK's largest industry. Indeed, Brexit only became a thing once the EU started tightening financial controls, upon which the monied class coopted racism and other blue collar complaints to create fear and bolster the antidemocratic agenda.

This is the war on taxes and regulation that has been swinging the political pendulum since the days of mercantilism and the need to break away from the whims of monarchy (American Revolution); then to get away from the popular will, which levies taxes and recognizes labor rights (rise of Hitler); then fleeing from the even less stable whim of dictators (WWII campaign*); then once again gaining an upper hand by rigging democracy (Gingrich media and banking deregulation, state legislature corruption), now culminating in the attempt to have democracy in name only under oligarch rule.

What is playing out on the surface is White identity politics, but it is staged and directed by oligarchs.

In the US and the UK, the full weight of settler colonialism falls upon those who might dare accept factual reality. As the oligarchs well know, having honed their propaganda skills and learned to manipulate ever more adroitly (advertising industry+cognitive science), the pitchfork class, having no other claim to fame than the achievements of the past and present brutes they worship as national heroes, is happy to torch the world at the prospect of losing their sole treasure, their precious Aryan identity, the easy leg up for losers. They are happy to groove on the rubble of civilization, triumphant.

But the enemy, the vile schemer at the heart of all things, is the oligarch drive to concentrate wealth and power in single hands, game over.

We've always had "protest parties" in the UK, lately headed by Farage. They've never really translated into electoral success at the national level. Reform's councillors will go the same way as UKIP's. They'll descend into incompetence and corruption and be voted out. The reason these parties tend to get councillors in the first place is the same reason they used to get MEP's, voter apathy.
