Trump's Second Term

I needed some gound turkey, so I went to the store and found the price had jumped by a dollar a pound. Ditto the Bubba turkey burgers. I assume it's because of bird flu, but other product, especially produce had price hikes. This was at my favorite employee-owned grocery store that has very competitive pricing on many items. Eggs were $4.49 a dozen which I guess is pretty much what they're going to be forever. I wait for sales and get as many dozen as allowed.

The "What's Going On With Shipping" YouTube channel is a bit more measured, saying shipping's down maybe 35%.

Ships are still setting off from China because even with tariffs some stuff is still cheaper from there or, even if it's not cheaper, they have it and you need it now so what else are you going to do? One of the biggest problems he can foresee is a buildup of empty containers, clogging US ports and not available for Chinese exporters if the tariffs change again.

No - this will now cause the spontaneous creation of American factories turning out these products.

Slightly more seriously - many USA companies will have made hefty investments in many of these Chinese plants and factories, will they now have to wipe those assets from their balance sheets?

Washington — President Trump said Friday his administration will be rescinding Harvard University's tax-exempt status, further escalating the ongoing feud with the Ivy League school.

"We are going to be taking away Harvard's Tax Exempt Status. It's what they deserve!" the president said in a post to Truth Social.

Mr. Trump did not provide further details about the effort to strip Harvard of its designation as a 501(c)(3) organization, but he has floated taking such a step as recently as last month.

Roughly 2 million organizations have received tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service, including charities like churches, environmental groups and universities. The designation means the groups are exempt from paying federal income taxes and the IRS considers donations to 501(c)(3) organizations to be tax-deductible.

The tax code prohibits executive branch officials from asking an IRS employee to conduct or terminate an audit or investigation into a specific taxpayer.

I’m too lazy to search for it, but I saw somewhere that his upcoming big, beautiful birthday parade is going to include 6,000-ish uniformed soldiers.

Honestly, no. I much prefer mainstream media sources that have built a reputation over years and decades. Xitter, not so much. That site is banned from my system and I don't "do" videos. A print source that can be copied and pasted is superior and—much better—can be archived by other sources on the Web such as the Wayback Machine. Xitter links can be disappeared in an instant with no indication they ever existed. And I have neither the time nor the patience to sit through every video posted here to verify it has been transcribed properly and in context.

I should probably apply the same criteria to Trump's postings on Truth Social, even though I freely copy and paste them here.

Obviously he means the wholesale price average.
