I just read a horror novel that featured interdimensional demons that manipulated humans to commit acts of cruelty because they fed on human suffering. Reminds me a lot of what Americans voted into power. Granted, they also use bigotry to distract their gullible followers form actual problems, but it's clear they also get off bigly on acts of cruelty.
