Trump's Second Term

Very exciting!

I'm reminded of George Carlin's special "You Are All Diseased". At one point he went on a lengthy rant about how people have become too obsessed with being safe and have forgotten that danger is fun. He then said that terrorists attacking the United States would be exciting and entertaining (this was a couple years before 9/11).

On a different direction than many of the other things noted, but also simultaneously utterly unsurprising and extremely bad -

Trump takes executive action targeting ActBlue, the main Democratic fundraising platform
ActBlue is widely considered one of the pillars of the Democratic Party’s digital ecosystem.

The accusations are brazenly spurious, of course. On the other hand, the Trump and co created WinRed is much more likely to be in flagrant violation when it comes to what he's accusing ActBlue of.

It's not like Trump actually opposes the stuff he's accusing ActBlue of, either way. To cite an easy example of him benefitting -
“Every accusation is a confession”

(My autopredict filled in confession as soon as I typed the “c”)

Oh, there are changes I would make.\
For one thing, term limits for congress. If congress critters knew they could not make a lifetime career out of elected office, they might make the occasional unpopular but necessary vote.
Get rid of the electorial college.
But the sad fact in a democracy..any democracy, you can only so go far to save voters from their own stupidity.
So the timeframe for anyone agreeing to that? Somewhere between hell freezing over and the heat death of the universe?

How soon till Trump signs an executive order banning words in front of -American? "Everybody who is a citizen is now American-American."

There’s a chilling scene in the movie “Civil War” where a protagonist asserts, at gunpoint, “We’re Americans” and the chilling psychopath answers, “What kind of American?”

Trump Fires Top Official Over Loose Ties to “Anonymous” Author

The White House fired an official because he knew the guy who criticized President Donald Trump in the famous “Anonymous” op-ed in The New York Times seven years ago, The Washington Post reported Friday.

The executive director of the Office of Trade Relations at Customs and Border Protection, George E. Bogden, was abruptly asked to leave his post over apparent ties to Miles Taylor, the author of the anonymous 2018 op-ed, sources told the Post. Taylor was Trump’s chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security at the time, and the piece revealed he and his colleagues’ internal efforts to thwart parts of the president’s agenda. Taylor made his authorship public in 2020 after leaving his position as chief of staff.

The president has reportedly been obsessed with the op-ed ever since. Bogden was asked to step down from his role, despite his centrality to implementing the president’s absurd tariff scheme. Bodgen’s job was to listen to the trade industry’s complaints and grievances amidst the economic chaos spurred by Trump in recent weeks.

It’s unclear what merited Bogden’s ousting, and there are few ties connecting the two men other than a Facebook photo of Bogden at Taylor’s wedding in 2019, one year before Taylor had revealed he wrote the op-ed. Sources told the Post that Bogden and Taylor “have not been close,” and that “few Trump allies, including Bogden, were aware of Taylor’s role in writing the piece at the time it was published or by the time of the wedding.”

Another source familiar with the story told The New Republic that there was no evidence presented to Bogden other than the Facebook photo, making it seem more like collecting opposition research rather than an investigation.

Yep, attend a wedding and get fired. Seems rational to me.

Yeah, I've been mostly avoiding confronting MAGA folk. But to a good half of them I could point out that I've been an American long before you were born.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has revoked former Attorney General Merrick Garland's policy designed to shield the news media from secret government requests for phone, email and other records.

Text of a new memo obtained by NBC News:
Safeguarding classified, privileged, and other sensitive information is essential to effective governance and law enforcement. Federal government employees intentionally leaking sensitive information to the media undermines the ability of the Department of Justice to uphold the rule of law, protect civil rights, and keep America safe. This conduct is illegal and wrong. and it must stop. Therefore, I have concluded that it is necessary to rescind Merrick Garland's policies precluding the Department of Justice from seeking records and compelling testimony from members of the news media in order to identify and punish the source of improper leaks.' I am also directing the Office of Legal Policy to publish new regulatory language in 28 C.F.R.

Donald upset by the New York times it seems

No matter what deal I make with respect to Russia/Ukraine, no matter how good it is, even if it's the greatest deal ever made, The Failing New York Times will speak BADLY of it.
Liddle' Peter Baker, the very biased and untalented writer for The Times, followed his Editor's demands and wrote that Ukraine should get back territory, including, I suppose, Crimea, and other ridiculous requests, in order to stop the killing that is worse than anything since World War II.
Why doesn't this lightweight reporter say that it was Obama who made it possible for Russia to steal Crimea from Ukraine without even a shot being fired. It was also Liddle' Peter who wrote an absolutely fawning, yet terribly written Biography, on Obama. It was a JOKE! Did Baker ever criticize the Obama Crimea Giveaway? NO, not once, only TRUMP, and I've had nothing to do with this stupid war, other than early on, when I gave Ukraine Javelins, and Obama gave them sheets.
This is Sleepy Joe Biden's War, not mine. It was a loser from day one, and should have never happened, and wouldn't have happened if I were President at the time. I'm just trying to clean up the mess that was left to me by Obama and Biden, and what a mess it is.
With all of that being said, there was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days. It makes me think that maybe he doesn't want to stop the war, he's just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through "Banking" or "Secondary Sanctions?" Too many people are dying!!!
