Will tariffs make America great?

Here is a current and in-depth documentary by gamers nexus about computers and the tariffs insanity.
They even talked to multiple CEOs. Quite extensive and good overview about the supply chains and all the problems these tariffs create etc.

he completely folded on a trade war he started in a matter of weeks. there will be long term effects from this.

the dismantling of the government is also insane and we haven’t really seen the extent of the damage that will cause.

Trump personally doesn't give a flying ◊◊◊◊ about what tariffs do to US traders. He is using them merely as a lever to twiddle stock market prices. And he has stopped jacking about with them because his friends told him to - there's probably no more insider profit left in them without being super obvious.

LOL

Since certain finished goods are exempt from tariffs on China, I'm in the position where if I have certain things I need made in China, there's no tariff. But if I import the components from China that I need to make them in-house, the components are subject to—what is it now?—143% tariff. And somehow this is supposed to bring manufacturing back to the United States. This is not a "policy." This is a toddler playing with the knobs.

It may be accurate, but that's no way to talk about his Cabinet.

To be honest, for consumer electronics that's already cheaper without tariffs.

I needed some ICs to repair lithium battery charging faults on portable equipment and most manufacturers use the same chipset for the job. Much the cheapest way to get the two ICs required was to buy a ready-made postage stamp sized circuit board and raid it for the chips I needed. Except they only sell these in packs of 10. No matter, still much cheaper. Now I have 9 spares.

Stuff China mass produces is still so extraordinarily cheap it's near inconceivable a Western country could pay people a living wage to make them here.
