Trump's Second Term

This nonbinary person, Tab, was featured by the Norwegian state broadcaster for having 'fled' TX due to fear of persecution for being gay, brown, and nonbinary. She's documenting her journey on her TikTok channel Enbyeuphoria.

Edit: forgot to translate: "Tab has fled the USA to Norway: -In the worst case I'll be killed

We knew it was coming, but hearing reports of refugees (albeit self-described in this case) fleeing persecution, or fear of persecution, from the USA still really hits me in the feels.
I'd leave Texas and I'm none of those things.

Good for Tab.

Mack Trucks announces layoffs at Lehigh Valley plant, blames tariffs

Mack Trucks will lay off between 250 and 350 workers at its Lehigh Valley Operations center outside Allentown over the next three months, due to economic uncertainty caused by U.S. tariffs, a company spokesperson said Thursday.

“Heavy-duty truck orders continue to be negatively affected by market uncertainty about freight rates and demand, possible regulatory changes, and the impact of tariffs,” spokesperson Kimberly Pupillo said.

It's nonsense. Is Mexico REALLY among the countries that have very highly prosecuted Christians group? Catholicism would seem to be entrenched there. Even in government.

Wait, wait...

Is it actually a list of countries where US-based money-grubbing protestant evangelist cults are simply not welcome nor warmly received?

Bingo!

… or more likely have been refused tax-exempt status (worse than being thrown to the lions) …

Who could’ve foreseen that it would be a disaster to put an unqualified Fox weekend host with a drinking problem and sordid personal history in charge of the world's largest military.

Pentagon turmoil deepens: Top Hegseth aide leaves post

Joe Kasper, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s chief of staff will leave his role in the coming days for a new position at the agency, according to a senior administration official, amid a week of turmoil for the Pentagon.

Senior adviser Dan Caldwell, Hegseth deputy chief of staff Darin Selnick and Colin Carroll, the chief of staff to Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg, were placed on leave this week in an ongoing leak probe. All three were terminated on Friday, according to three people familiar with the matter, who, like others, were granted anonymity to discuss a sensitive issue.

This is absolutely great for Putin. The US military top office is now a rolling bin-fire of craptacular incompetence and in-fighting. With a giant orange slug as the toppest brass who could not give a flying ◊◊◊◊ about this, just wants a birthday parade. FUBAR is the nicest description. Hopefully the military hierarchy can hold things together until a more competent leadership is established. In four years...

China knows it will probably never have a better opportunity to reunite the two Chinas. If I lived on Taiwan I'd probably start getting concerned.

Well, they rushed him down to see the doctor
Hey doctor, won't you check his head?
The only thing that was wrong with him
Was Johnny Walker's Red

Vice President JD Vance flew to Rome hoping to meet with Pope Francis. Instead, the Pope skipped the meeting entirely—and sent his top cardinal to deliver a pointed message about compassion and care for the vulnerable.

Vance was greeted not by the pontiff, but by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State. In a statement, the Vatican said the meeting covered global conflicts, political unrest, and “difficult humanitarian situations,” with a clear focus on “migrants, refugees, and prisoners.”

The conversation sounded more like a lecture than a diplomatic exchange. And the Pope’s absence was hard to ignore.

While Sky News reported that Vance had a brief, private encounter with the Pope at his residence, there were no details, no photos, and no official mention. The real meeting—the one on the schedule—never happened.

I wonder if Couch Boy ever goes to confession.

Weird, isn't it? An opportunity to say something uplifting about Christianity gets used instead to attack imaginary persecutors of Christians. At this special time of year, while remembering that Jesus died for your sins, always remember that we're the real victims here.
In general, I've found Christians see themselves as victims...especially MAGA Christians. The whole 'war on Christmas' nonsense is a good example of that persecution complex and Trump used it beautifully. Of all the horrible things he is, no one can say he isn't a master manipulator. He knows his audience.

I wonder if Couch Boy ever goes to confession.
As a more recent convert, the chances are likely that he does. Converts are almost always the most radical.

I dunno how masterful Donald Jabba Trump is at manipulating. How hard can it be to bamboozle a pack of semi-zombies with knee-jerk brains?

Donald sends Harvard letter making stupid demands.

Donald now says it was sent by accident.

Donald blames Harvard for reacting to the letter he sent.

Harvard says the letter “was signed by three federal officials, placed on official letterhead, was sent from the email inbox of a senior federal official and was sent on April 11 as promised. Recipients of such correspondence from the U.S. government, even when it contains sweeping demands that are astonishing in their overreach, do not question its authenticity or seriousness.
It remains unclear to us exactly what, among the government's recent words and deeds, were mistakes or what the government actually meant to do and say. But even if the letter was a mistake, the actions the government took this week have real-life consequences on students and employees and the standing of American higher education in the world."

Trump Officials Blame Mistake for Setting Off Confrontation With Harvard
An official on the administration’s antisemitism task force told the university that a letter of demands had been sent without authorization.

So Trump has chickened out of his extortion letter to Harvard. It was sent "without authorisation". I wonder who gets thrown under the bus? Has to be someone at least as senior as its signatories, as they can't very well push the blame downwards.

In response to all of the above: How much worse could this administration be if any of its members were even minimally competent along with being evil, instead of evil and incompetent? Or maybe it wouldn't.
