Merged Due process in the US

US born citizen detained by ICE despite his mother presenting his birth certificate.
Yes, he has a Latinx name.

The law he is detained under was apparently suspended by a Federal judge, but has still been used. Hopefully he won't be sent out of US jurisdiction before his family can get him freed.

As with every thing else Trump related it's his cloistered life and belief that his viewpoint is universal colliding. None of his friends at the country club in the seventies had tattoos so obviously anyone that has is a gang member.

Although, if Roger Stone could get deported before this all gets sorted out it would be some consolation.

Yes, similarly his bewilderment at the interior of a Tesla "It's all computer". He doesn't do computer, or indeed car. He has people to computer and car for him. And he thinks Barron is a computer whiz because he can turn on his own laptop by himself.

I disagree with the term collateral damage. They are an implausibly deniable part of the intended consequences

Trump is talking about making deportation part of the process for citizens.

And determining whether someone has the right to be in the country is part of due process, even for people you don't like.

American citizens getting caught up in the MAGA frenzy to deport everyone and anyone they can, who is either here illegally or is simply a foreigner? I very naively thought this could not happen but apparently it is very much happening.

Reporters and Democrats need to start demanding answers. And a commitment that the WH will look into this and try to stop it.

And if instead they say it's really not a problem and ICE does not and never has and never will detain a US citizen, I guess we are at Defcon 2.
