Cont: The Russian Invasion of Ukraine part 9

It is good that the Ukrainians are prepared, but are they sure they know where the blow will land? I WW2 the Russians were masters in concealing where an offensive would take place.
The modern Russian army is a long way away from the Soviets in WW2. Given modern observation tech you can't really hide build-ups of forces. Putin doesn't even have the forces to 'fake' a buildup somewhere else.

That's why you use modern, combined arms, mobile tactics. Your main force is held just behind the front ready to go in wherever the main attack develops.

Close satellite surveillance makes a complete surprise attack almost impossible.
So the question is if Agent Krasnov will do Putin another favor. Trump is heading into another round of negotiations over the Ukraine mineral extortion, could he put another well-timed pause on US Intel to "bring Ukraine to the table"?

It's always a risk but lesser now as I think Putin rather ◊◊◊◊ the bed when he annoyed the God Emperor by going off script from the bigliest ceasefire plan.

Denis Davydov giving updates on action in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukraine has in recent weeks retaken key ground south of the city, reversing Moscow's momentum there:

Davydov tends to give a more well-rounded report than the other channel I've been referencing here. So if you want to see some sober analysis of where Ukraine is struggling, without stumbling into the stinkeye of Russian vranyo, this might be the channel for you.

Also in this video: Some discussion of Ukraine's increased use of air power, thanks in part to the contribution of western warplanes, and in part to the diligent effort Ukraine has made to degrade Russian air defense.

Yes that's been an interesting theme recently, with Ukraine making use of aviation glide bombs like the Russians have previously done to terrible effect. I presume the F16s flying anti-cruise-missile sorties have freed up other aircraft for this role.

Russia had an advantage with their glide bombs because, at the time they could not be jammed, but more importantly Ukraine weren't allowed to shoot down the bombers over ruzzian territory. Sadly, I believe it would only have taken a few Patriot/SAMP/T missiles to put an end to that. Yet another result of (imo) a row of cowardly decisions by Western leaders that cost thousands of lives.

Russia has to get moving!

It's about him of course.

Donald J. Trump
