Fox annoying me chatting about this Network Contaigon study saying 40% of democrats think assassinating Trump and Musk would be justified.

The thing that's bugging me is that the results presented broke out the charts for 'everybody' and for 'self-reported left leaning' but there isn't one for 'not self-reported left-leaning.' And I'm not good enough at statistics to look at their deviation from mean charts by demographic to see how much the 'very grumpy young people addicted to tiktok' cohort moved the needle here. I also can't figure out where they got their pool of respondents from.

Anyone have any comments?

Besides the usual criticisms around basing this on a thousand-odd surveys, and the way many people tend not to pick the options on either end when you have seven degrees of choice available for the responses.

Also not sure how I feel about Luigi meme jokes being described as bloodthirsty... Because I come from a place where you can't move for Ides of March jokes a few days around that particular anniversarry every year and it's hard to think of that as uh.. actually very bloodthirsty
 
Part of the problem on this forum is that the rules prohibit people from advocating for the extreme remedies they actually hope for or believe in.

Me? I think the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin had a real effect on policy. And I think if you're willing to do the time, then you should do the crime your conscience allows. You'll sleep better at night, knowing you did the right thing and made a difference. Even if it means you're sleeping in a cell.

What annoys me about this discourse is that nobody is willing to own that position. There's several people on this forum hoping for that outcome, and disingenuously pretending nobody knows what they really want. But putting their money where their mouth is? Cowards and scumbags, one and all.
 
I've never heard of NCRI and read the study (or skimmed it enough). Weird that it could even pass an internal review board.

Not sure what the point is, it almost feels like a very complicated joke. Even though it has the features of a legitimate study with footnotes and technical jargon.

Honestly I think it's just a bunch of horse hockey with a preconceived result in mind. That there's no methodology section kind of gives it away.

Honestly? I kind of get that vibe too, it reminds me of some sci fi writer's idea of an android struggling with 'joke? funny joke? meme? but your mother... her back..'

On the serious side, I do agree that when someone is willing to face the consequences for the crime, then that almost by definition means they felt like it was justified. I don't know. At risk of getting all semantic, "justified" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the poll. I wish their report would show what the actual poll's presentation was.
 
Yeah there could always be a lone wolf, and that works on both sides.

There is no scientific poll there. They said under the "Survey Results" section that they interviewed 1,264 respondents but no source of that poll. Could just be a Survey Monkey one or on a conservative website poll, not unlike ISF with a very different bent.

It's just kinda stupid to me.

I don't get how not openly advocating for political assassination makes someone a coward and a scumbag.

I decided I'd write them to ask why they're peddling junk science. Since they've been quoted in many media outlets according to their website.

Lo and behold, there is no contact information anywhere about their leadership. Even after trying to find them on external sites, still no contact info. Fancy that.

Yeah, I don't think Fox plans on polling Republicans to see how many would advocate for the assassination of certain Democratic Party members.
 
First off, it's a "social cyber threat" agency that it links to... so basically somebody who scrolls through FB posts spying on people's data. I suppose someone has to do it, but the business model primarily involves scaring their client into giving them money. They also might have something to do with the recent wave of Student Visa revocations (ya think?). Even if not (dunno), they're in the same business.

But yeah, I would be perfectly fine if someone were to assassinate the new Hitler. I'd prefer that our other government officials impeach and jail him, but unfortunately, approximately half of them seem to be complicit. The US doesn't need a dictator. It's not even murder when defending your country from the multiple stunts he's pulling.

What the right fails to realize for some reason is that this isn't politics as usual (well... except they actually know that. They just don't care). Most of what Trump is doing isn't even legal, and he only gets away with it (partially, but even so not entirely) because he's managed to stack the deck.

So don't whine when it gets deadly. You've been literally voting for it. It probably won't come to that, but your freaking hero (Trump) is doing his best to make sure that it does. We're about halfway to Krystalnacht, except it isn't Jews he's after... his list of enemies is much more vague than that.

The idea of being willing to trade your life (or at least freedom) for one person you have identified as deserving of death used to be quite celebrated; Luigi is the latest example.

It's rather the Right-wingers like Rittenhouse or the many cops who kill the unarmed who believe they should be allowed to kill without consequences.

Are you an idiot? There's a great big "Contact Us" button at the top right corner of every web page on their website. Additionally, the "Leadership Team" page, under their "About" tab, lists Pamela Paresky and Lee Jussim, among others. If you Google "Contact Pamela Paresky," the very first line of the the results gives her email address. Lee Jussim is the chair of the Department of Psychology at Rutgers University. If you just Google "Lee Jussim Rutgers," the very first hit is to his directory listing at Rutgers, which gives his email address and office phone number.

Yes, I went to the "Contact Us" page and guess what? Just provide your contact information and whether you want to be added to their newsletter. Nothing about where it actually goes, or when/if they'll get back to you.

If they're so transparent, why not just put their contact info on the website for the organization they lead. Why should you have to dig around for it?

For ◊◊◊◊◊ sake. Their contact page says, "To contact the NCRI, please complete and submit the form. An NCRI representative will be in touch with you as soon as possible."
 
Still not sure if serious. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt -- you're just being sarcastic in a way that I didn't pick up on.
