Trump's Second Term

Around 68,000 Americans die each year because they can’t access or afford healthcare.

About 2/3 of brand name drugs, and 80% of generic drugs, are manufactured outside the US.

Donald new "major" tariff on pharmaceuticals is going to make sure that number people gets a lot higher.

It's like a big beautiful bunker. I assume Trump likes them since he's always hitting his balls in them.
I think you'll find he's always on the fairway or green. Rough, water hazards and bunkers are for losers who don't have an infinite supply of Mulligans, playing partners who pointedly look the other way when he uses the hand mashie or leather niblick, and tournament directors who simply declare him the winner.

If you can't afford healthcare (or if your company can't) then you're a loser who deserves to die.

If you're not a billionaire in Trump's perfect economy then you're simply not doing it right - and that's all on you.

China is a major source of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, so it's not just a matter of producing the finished product in the USA

He could invade Canada/Greenland, then get stuck after Congress refuses to authorize long term support for the war.
Why would Congress refuse to authorize it? It's failed to rein him in so far, why would it suddenly develop a backbone?
Because up until now Trump has largely run the country via executive order. Congress hasn't tried to stop him because Trump hasn't actually needed them to do anything, and republicans don't have an interest in stopping him.And democrats don't really have the power to stop him,

On the other hand, if Trump needed to get some sort of 'support' for the war from Congress, he would probably need to get enough support in the senate to overcome the filibuster. This is where the democrats could actually do something, since they would have the votes to block any sort of "resolution to authorize use of force in Canada/Greenland".

Only Congress can declare war, not the president. If Trump ordered troops to invade a foreign country, that would be an illegal act of war. Subsequent approval after the fact would be seen as condoning natiowide illegal activity. It would be the equivalent of Russia's Duma condoning Putin's ventures into Ukraine.

But yeah, this GOP would do it.
Oh the GOP definitely would. But they might need enough votes in the senate to overcome the filibuster, and I can't see enough democrats getting on side.
Also, the Canadians are perfectly capable of striking back...hard. Like Ukraine, they have a fair contingent of modern US made weapons, including aircraft.
Ummm... our air force is currently flying F18 hornets. (well the CF-188.) Not the latest 'super hornet', but the older, 1980s era original hornets. They probably wouldn't last more than a few hours when up against F-22s and F-35s. And without air support, I don't think we can really do much to 'strike back hard'.

We might be able to rely on our NATO allies. but apart from that I think our resistance will be more of a guerilla-war. (Nasty for the US, since unlike Afghanistan things will be more up-close and personal for the Americans.)

Invasion of Greenland and Canada would be a "Police Action" - no need for Congress to worry its silly little head about.
True, Trump could unilaterally label military action against Canada/Greenland as a "police action". But, congress still controls taxation/spending, and senate democrats can use the filibuster to try to block things. So Trump could send troops into Canada, but not have the financial backing to continue operating for long periods of time.

By comparisons, consider the Korean war. It is true that Truman never bothered getting congress to declare war or directly authorize military action. But, there were multiple bills (such as a mutual defense pact, and appropriations bills) that were rather important for operations to continue.

The problem with NATO allies is the Atlantic Ocean.

How long would it take to arrive in Canada?

Their best option would be to intern all the American personnel and equipment in Europe.

Looks like China aren't going to kiss Donald's Arse.

China to impose additional import tax of 84% on US goods in response to Trump tariffs

China's finance ministry has announced an additional 84% tariffs on all goods imported from the US.

The ministry says that these new charges will take effect from 12:01 CST (05:00 BST) on 10 April.

And many MAGA-hatted US farmers, who have to decide right now whether to plant a crop that usually gets exported to China, wonder why they're seeing so many leopards prowling around these days.

Thr classic tell is: if he's alive.

Although a walking dead Trump wouldn't be any more honest. So... as long as his rotting corpse is shuffling around under Putin's control?

The tariffs are not the plan. The tariffs are just the leverage to strongarm the world to accept the plan. We haven't yet seen what the plan is. Nor has Trump, for that matter but he doesn't care. He's just in it for this part, where other world leaders kiss his arse and beg him for mercy.
