Trump's Second Term

Not for many a year. Even if Trump and the Republicans are consigned to the rubbish bin after the next election, it will never be forgotten that American voters are capable of giving an insane criminal the top job.

It will be a generation at least. The rest of the world now knows that America is only one election away from turning on us.

Some of Trump's business supporters are urging him to do a deal on Tariffs, but he seems to be ignoring them.
I am really afraid Trump now has his ego caught up in the tariffs, and has come to beleive his own BS about them replacing the Income tax.
I think it's more that Trump has no Plan B. As long as the tariffs are not hurting him, personally, and the rest of the world is crying in pain, the tariffs are working as far as he is concerned.

And if he ever desperately needs a bump in approval, he can cancel them and get his henchmen to sing his praises on Fox.

Close to 50% of Americans think he's doing a fine job if recent polls are accurate.

That's the part he doesn't give a flying ◊◊◊◊ about. Not a single one.

Please forgive my ignorance on the subject of tariffs and possible results from them. I admit I don’t know as much as I should because as a young man I just didn’t care what happened politically and it has come back to bite me.
I am in no way a Don supporter and these are real questions that have occurred to me in the last month: Is it possible that these tariffs
(however remotely) will actually do what the administration says they will do? Can the US economy survive this brutal slaughter and actually come out better as a result? Will the US ever return to its prominence on the world stage? From what my limited knowledge tells me, unfortunately, the answer is no.
Probably not. For tariffs to actually work they have to be targeted to help an industry in existence (think like what the EU did when China started umping cheap, crap steel into the international markets and the US and UK didn't), or to support a plan to build up industrial capacity within your own country (tariffs on certain industrial goods were a part of South Korea's industrialisation plan in the 60's). Trampy's blanket tariffs do neither of these things and actually hit what US industry imports to work on tbe hardest.

Problem is, the cult believed 'Trump will cut prices', and a few might recognize they have been scammed. Granted, most of them will stay in the cult, but enough will defect to cost the GOP the mid-terms. They want to worship Trump, but they don't want to personally suffer.
But they will personally suffer, if they realize and internalize that they have been conned, that they were stupid enough to be conned.
We'll see which suffering is going to be more acceptable to those people.

If prices go up as the result of the tariffs and they find it far more difficult to make ends meet they will blame Biden and the Democrats and will believe that Trump is working night and day to make things better.

The worse things get, the worse things must have been and therefore the better Trump is doing. IMO it will embed them even deeper.

Trump says EU must buy $350B of US energy to get tariff relief.
Brussels’ zero-for-zero tariff offer not enough,

The European Union will have to commit to buying $350 billion of American energy to get a reprieve from Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs, the U.S. president said late Monday, dismissing Brussels' offer of "zero-for-zero" tariffs on cars and industrial goods.

"We have a deficit with the European Union of $350 billion and it's gonna disappear fast," Trump said. "One of the ways that that can disappear easily and quickly is they're gonna have to buy our energy from us ... they can buy it, we can knock off $350 billion in one week. They have to buy and commit to buy a like amount of energy."

Don't be a Panican!

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
The United States has a chance to do something that should have been done DECADES AGO. Don’t be Weak! Don’t be Stupid! Don’t be a PANICAN (A new party based on Weak and Stupid people!). Be Strong, Courageous, and Patient, and GREATNESS will be the result!

As if we needed more evidence that he doesn't know what the ◊◊◊◊ he's talking about:

Reporter: There have been some mixed messages from your administration, you're talking about negotiations and yet others in your administration are saying these tariffs are actually permanent

Trump: Both can be true. We need open borders
