if they have become passably female in every way but a flipping DNA test, why should there be any doubt about their sincerity in just wanting to live like a woman, and be treated as such?

Why do transwomen need to be housed in women's prisons in the first place? If you just recognize them as males, then they don't have to worrry about self-mutilation, expensive treatments, etc.

Sure they do. Someone has the same right to say they are a woman and use the women's spaces as you do to say you are a man and use the men's.

There's no dick inspection at the men's rooms I've been to. It just goes by your looks, and ya junk doesn't matter.

I don't merely say I am a man, I am a man.

There is no right to declare you belong to a different sex, and others must accept and embrace this. Especially if you have all the bits and pieces of the original sex.

This isn't a symmetric situation. Female sexual predators do not follow the same patterns that male sexual predators follow. There is basically no incentive for a female sexual predator to pretend to be male in order to gain access to victims. There is an incentive for male sexual predators to pretend to be female in order to gain access to victims. That's why nobody talks about whether it's OK to let transmen into male spaces. It's not a vulnerability in danger of being exploited.

Why do any restructuring at all? The current conventions on necessary sex segregation seem to be doing a fine job as-is. As long as we don't do something silly, like grant men the entitlement of transcending sex segregation by fiat self-ID, we don't really need to change anything at all.

Because if the concern is the assumption of rape by males, that laudable concern would stretch across the culture, not be restricted to transwomen.

Eta: a sign on a door doesn't stop a violent criminal, and the idea that he is buying himself a couple seconds of being "allowed" in the space before ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ raping is absurd.

Jesus Christ. It does stretch across the culture. Women's restrooms. Women's locker rooms. Women's shelters. Safe spaces for women comprise a major part of sex segregation.

There's a reason women are concerned about granting men access to these spaces based on fiat self-ID.

And none are really safer than any other unlocked and unguarded space.

That's what a lot of the argumentation seems to boil down to: people are only worried about hypothetical transwoman raping, not actual rape threats which are literally everywhere.

Sexual harassment and sexual assault by transwomen who have gained access to formerly safe spaces for women is not hypothetical. Nor is it something that was happening prior to fiat self-ID being established in public policy.

I see we've reached the "thing that never happens has happened again" part of the conversation.

And you still haven't given us a reason why men should be entitled to transcend sex segregation if they want.

Pretty sure actual rapists have been ignoring signs for generations untold. If they hadn't, "No Raping" signs would have reduced the offense level to zero long ago.

Much? I suspect the percentage is really small, actually. Other than a few vocal loudmouths, I'd say there's actually very little support for this issue. Most people just go along in order to not lose their job.
