US orders French companies to comply with Trump's diversity ban
PARIS (Reuters) -The Trump administration has ordered some French companies with U.S. government contracts to comply with his executive order banning diversity, equity, and inclusion programmes, highlighting the extraterritorial reach of U.S. policies and their potential impact on European...www.aol.com
The US military presence in Greenland wound down after the cold war but so far as I know they still have treaty rights to reinforce as far as they deem necessary. So there's nothing stopping them defending Greenland from whatever threat they imagine exists. Defence can't be the reason Trump wants to own the island. They've had a huge base there and reduced the size of it.
"More importantly, what kind of company would sponsor such as hate-filled and violence-inspiring event?"The White House Correspondents' Association is cancelling its plans to have comedian Amber Ruffin headline this year's annual fundraising dinner.
"The WHCA board has unanimously decided we are no longer featuring a comedic performance this year. At this consequential moment for journalism, I want to ensure the focus is not on the politics of division but entirely on awarding our colleagues for their outstanding work and providing scholarship and mentorship to the next generation of journalists. Just yesterday, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich said
"This year’s WHCA dinner will be hosted by a 2nd rate comedian who is previewing the event by calling this administration “murderers” who want to “feel like human beings, but they shouldn’t get to feel that way, because you’re not”
What kind of responsible, sensible journalist would attend something like this? More importantly, what kind of company would sponsor such as hate-filled and violence-inspiring event?"
I am sure it had no influence on the WHCA

He wants the raw earth.I think it's given that the "we need Greenland for national security" is a lie and it is the natural resources Trump et al. want access to. I suspect they may be successful by bribing enough of the population of Greenland with promises of a share of all that wealth under their feet.
If they think this will save them they are sadly mistaken. The White House Correspondents' Association is cancelling its plans to have comedian Amber Ruffin headline this year's annual fundraising dinner.

The whole policy towards Greenland is incoherent. The US military presence in Greenland wound down after the cold war but so far as I know they still have treaty rights to reinforce as far as they deem necessary. At this consequential moment for journalism . . .
The whole US government is incoherent. At best. The whole policy towards Greenland is incoherent.
Defence from whom Dr Sid?!? Who are you defending against?Nah, I doubt Greenland is about minerals. It certainly IS important for US defense. Denmark being in NATO is not enough, if you want to leave NATO.
Russia, who else ..Defence from whom Dr Sid?!? Who are you defending against?
That's where the incoherence comes in. There is already a military base in Greenland secured through good relations with Denmark, a country which sent more troops to fight and die for American interests in Afghanistan than America did, per capita (as Snyder points out), and if Russia is the country that you are worried about why on Earth would you be busy dismantling an international military coalition against that country and strong-arming the only country fighting Russia on the battlefield into an ignominious surrender?Russia, who else ..
It is coherent if you think EU is bunch of freeloaders who bring nothing to the table. That's where the incoherence comes in. Clearly a foreign policy aimed at defending against Russia would not be doing these things if the foreign policy was coherent.
No it isn't. Not even then.It is coherent if you think EU is bunch of freeloaders who bring nothing to the table.
The president on Saturday said he has "absolutely" had real conversations about annexing Greenland, which is currently a semi-autonomous Danish territory.
"We'll get Greenland. Yeah, 100%," Trump said.
He added that there's a "good possibility that we could do it without military force" but that "I don't take anything off the table."
What a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ nut.Donald says using military force to get Greenland "is on the table"
