Trump's Second Term

GOP bill could ban hairdressers from giving gender-nonconforming haircuts to minors
The bill would allow anyone to sue someone who affirms a young person's transition, and it specifically mentions hairstyles.

The bill defines social transitioning as “any act by which a minor adopts or espouses a gender identity that differs from the minor’s biological sex … including without limitation changes in clothing, pronouns, hairstyle, and name.”

Sorry Republicans. You can't stop the mullet returning!

Short back and sides for males, long hair for females.

Women no trousers, skirts and dresses only.

Cut a woman's hair short, go to jail.

Sell a woman trousers, go to jail.
Approved 'gender allocated at birth' conforming wear

ETA - to be fair, it will not be a crime to sell dungarees to women or cut their hair short. It will be a civil offence and the responsible male can sue the retailer for damaging the woman's femininity with a consequent loss of her value.

That's what the appeals process is for. The Supreme Court controls the inferior courts by issuing rulings upon referral to which the lower courts are bound. The administration and some in Congress seem to think impeachment is the proper remedy for dealing with judges who rule against the administration's interest. A few even seem to think it's woefully improper for a court to challenge claims made by the executive. But in fact the principle that an executive's enforcement of the law may itself be unsupported by fact or otherwise unlawful is the bread and butter of the entire criminal justice system.

Losing parties are forever complaining about the alleged bias of judges.

I gather for her it's just a game.

It doesn't seem to be a game she has much aptitude for.

.Diplomatic row erupts after French researcher expelled from US for expressing 'a personal opinion' on Trump

Pulled him aside for questioning by US border officials, reports suggest the space researcher was selected at random for a search, which saw him taken into a side room.

There, his personal mobile phone and work computer were confiscated and searched by authorities, with messages discussing Trump's treatment of scientists found on his device.

A source told French news outlet Le Monde that he was then accused of sending "hateful" and "conspiratorial" messages, with exchanges "that reflect hatred toward Trump and can be described as terrorism."

On that basis most of the world is going to be excluded from travel to the US
It certainly seems to be happening. The most recent I've seen is that members of the UK Subs (though not all of them) were denied entry for alleged problems with their visa, and unspecified other reasons. Given that some of them were allowed in with the same paperwork it seems the first reason may have been spurious. Alvin Gibbs, one of those denied entry, has certainly been critical of Trump.

Because how else do you keep them distracted while you're stealing the country?
Spot on. I think most of this is theatre for the masses. Keep us talking about crazy ◊◊◊◊ while our remaining wealth and power are drained away. Before you know it we'll be renting fresh air (CO2 < 1000ppm) from trillionaires so we can breath without experiencing brain fog.

100% of our focus should be on curtailing the power and excesses of the ultra-wealthy. My preference is a 100% tax on wealth over 10 million to be put into sovereign wealth funds. 5% interest on 10 million is 500k/year. I think that's quite a generous retirement income, particularly for the likes of Musk and Trump.

All safety critical systems have hard-coded limits designed into them. For some reason we don't treat the economy as a safety critical system. Instead the delusion of exponential growth forever rules.

...snip...
I can see why he was denied entry: "I’m really sad that the true UK Subs were unable to provide the performance and the
diverse set we’d prepared, "

I had no immediate plans to visit, but now I will be actively avoiding any visit to the USA for the foreseeable future.
I was planning a trip to the US west coast, having visited the US for the past two summers. But given the stories coming out of ICE brutality over even minor VISA matters, there's no way in hell I'll be going there any time soon.

After 40 years of writing songs about this exact thing I bet it was at least a little vindicating.
