Trump's Second Term

NEBRASKA CROWD: “TAX THE RICH! TAX THE RICH!”

@USRepMikeFlood: “So your proposal to solve (the debt) is tax the rich?”

NEBRASKA CROWD: *CHEERS WILDLY*

(not sure this went quite as he planned 😬)

This is why they don't want any more town halls. It sends the wrong message. 😏

Yes, yes it is.

Assuming we make it to 2026...this *needs* to be the Dems core campaign platform. The GOP will not be able to counter because Trump will not allow them to.

...
-1: Headline: U.S. judge wants explanation why Trump administration deported Venezuelans amid court order (CBC)
That sounds like a positive to me. When judges no longer want explanations, that's a serious negative.
You're right ... that was badly worded. The -1 is for Trump deporting the Venezuelans despite a court order preventing him from doing so.

-1: Fox News displays photos of judges who rule against Trump while hosts and Republicans attack them live on air
That's a decision of Fox News, not the administration.
True. I'll defend it by saying this is emblematic of the administration: using the media, even if indirectly, to push its propaganda.

0: Gold-coloured of model of Mount Rushmore with Trump added appears at Mar-a-Lago
Not an administration decision
Again, it's emblematic of the administration, and we know about it because the leader of said administration allowed it become public knowledge. It also as a neutral score, indicating it's merely being noted.

-2: Executive Order: Additional rescission of harmful executive orders and actions
Rescission of harmful things sounds like a positive, can you expand on that?
I should have added that the many of rescinded orders that Trump declared to be harmful in fact were not:

Executive Order said:
  • Executive Order 13994 of January 21, 2021 (Ensuring a Data-Driven Response to COVID-19 and Future High-Consequence Public Health Threats).
  • Presidential Memorandum of February 4, 2021 (Advancing the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Persons Around the World).
  • Executive Order 14026 of April 27, 2021 (Increasing the Minimum Wage for Federal Contractors).
  • Executive Order 14081 of September 12, 2022 (Advancing Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Innovation for a Sustainable, Safe, and Secure American Bioeconomy).
  • Presidential Memorandum of November 16, 2023 (Advancing Worker Empowerment, Rights, and High Labor Standards Globally).
  • Executive Order 14112 of December 6, 2023 (Reforming Federal Funding and Support for Tribal Nations to Better Embrace Our Trust Responsibilities and Promote the Next Era of Tribal Self-Determination).
  • Executive Order 14119 of March 6, 2024 (Scaling and Expanding the Use of Registered Apprenticeships in Industries and the Federal Government and Promoting Labor-Management Forums).
  • Executive Order 14126 of September 6, 2024 (Investing in America and Investing in American Workers).

I don't think Blue Mountain's grading is based on the effect on Trump, more on society as a whole.
True. The grading is based partly on the likely effect it will have on people, either every American as a whole or on certain groups for which the administration is removing protections. Negative grades are also given for lies, racist remarks, and undiplomatic (that is, outrageous) behaviour such as threatening to annex other countries and insulting domestic and foreign officials.

I'm now including actions that undermine democracy and the rule of law, such as calling for the impeachment of judges.

Usually the grading is simply -1, or -2 if it meets the above criteria and is considered illegal or unconstitutional. On occasion a memo or executive order will contain multiple negative points and it will get a greater negative score, one for each point I consider to be negative.

The MAGA folks and the Project 2025 people can invert the scores to show what an amazing job Trump is doing on implementing their agenda.

As of the close of the day on March 18, my positive/negative score on the Trump administration stands at -299.

18 March 2025
-2: Headline: "Unqualified DOGE bro leads raid on agency dedicated to world peace" (Daily Kos) (-2 for illegal)
-1: Trump goes on a rant after Judge James Boasberg blocks Trump's deportation of Venezuelans [87]
-1: Trump earns a rare public rebuke from the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for calling for Boasberg's impeachment
-1: US Rep Brandon Gill (R-TX) introduces articles of impeachment for Judge Boasberg [88]
-1: Trump removes the Secret Service details of Hunter and Ashley Biden "effective immediately"
-1: Trump insults Canada by saying the country doesn't "pay for military" and cheats at negotiations [89]
-1: Trump being a broken record: "Canada was meant to be the 51st state"

I modified the score on his March 14 executive order Additional rescission of harmful executive orders and actions from -2 to -8 due to recessions of at least eight executive orders that I viewed as not harmful.

References

87. Trump: "This Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker and agitator who was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, was not elected President - He didn't WIN the popular VOTE (by a lot!), he didn't WIN ALL SEVEN SWING STATES, he didn't WIN 2,750 to 525 Counties, HE DIDN'T WIN ANYTHING!
"I WON FOR MANY REASONS, IN AN OVERWHELMING MANDATE, BUT FIGHTING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION MAY HAVE BEEN THE NUMBER ONE REASON FOR THIS HISTORIC VICTORY.
"I'm just doing what the VOTERS wanted me to do. This judge, like many of the Crooked Judges' I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!!
"WE DON'T WANT VICIOUS, VIOLENT, AND DEMENTED CRIMINALS, MANY OF THEM DERANGED MURDERERS, IN OUR COUNTRY. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!!"

88. Brandon Gill (R-TX): "I just introduced Articles of Impeachment against radical activist Judge James Boasberg. He is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors and should be removed from office."

89. Trump: "Canada doesn't pay for military. They give us nothing. And they are the worst people to negotiate with of everybody ... they cheat."

Ironic that Roberts gave Donald President king-like powers and is now upset when he acts like a king.
When he talked about the "normal appellate review process", was he reassuring Trump that once it gets to the SC they've got his back?

What's interesting is not even Americans are all that keen on the idea.

And they probably would be less so if they discover Quebec is French!
As an American, my stance is much as it always was on the topic - neutral. I'd have no problem with Canada joining the US of its own volition and jumping the hoops needed there, but I also just wouldn't care too much. Canada's been a very, very friendly country for a long, long time.

What's going on, of course, is reprehensible. Attempting to bully Canada into becoming part of the US is WTF from the start. Doing it under such insanely moronic pretenses is even worse. It's both like Trump watched the movie Canadian Bacon and thought that it'd be a good idea to manufacture a war with Canada to shore up how unpopular he is and like Trump's dancing to Putin and Xi commands.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins says

"If Veterans want to attempt to change their sex, they can do so on their own dime."

VA to phase out treatment for gender dysphoria
President Trump’s Defending Women EO states, “It is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female. These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.” VA is adjusting its policies to fully comply with the EO.

Also, if he wants a war, openly dismantling veteran benefits and calling soldiers losers and suckers is pretty short-sighted, too. What's in it for the teenager who's considering signing up for the military? Any promise could be broken at any time. If you're injured they clearly won't be there for you. If you end up homeless you'll probably be chased from spot to spot by police, because the fascists have decided they don't want the homeless problem to be visible.

Trump is a loon!

That, sir, is an insult to all good, honest members of the genus Gavia (which we, on the correct side of the Atlantic, call divers)!

And, if referring to those with a form of MH problems, I would also argue is an insult to most of the folks I worked with (aside from a few reall out and out serious psychopaths).

I shall bid you good day sir!

(Do I actually need to add a wink or something similar?)
