Trump's Second Term

We got there. Trump IS the government. Not the other parts or "the people." Supporting Ukraine now a treason:
tomwellborn3
Musk, a billionaire draft-dodger, called war hero Mark Kelly a “traitor” for supporting Ukraine. Kelly fired back, reminding Musk that defending democracy isn’t a game for fascist tech bros. While Musk guts the government and spreads conspiracies, real leaders fight for freedom. Maybe he should launch himself into space and stay there.
(there is no draft much of anywhere).

Starlink benefits as Trump admin rewrites rules for $42B grant program

(bolding mine)

The problem with Lutnick's statement that "the program has not connected a single person to the Internet" is a program like this doesn't ramp up overnight. There's a lot of up-front work that needs to be done before even a mile of fibre-optic cable can be laid: designing the overall network infrastructure, setting goals and requirements, working through local regulations and permits, figuring out how to run cable through challenging terrain and reducing environmental impacts, getting companies that own poles on-board with running fibre cable on them, getting rights-of-way across private land, and creating partnerships for managing things and ensuring maintenance is done. These things take time.
As I said a while back during the election, Musk funding Trump's campaign wasn't a donation. It was an investment.

Recovering a bit

−775.86 (1.81%)

But Bitcoin hit a 90 day low
$79,327.81 −1,370.00 (1.70%)

So much for the strategic reserve idea.

Senator Mark Kelly (D-Arizona) visited the Ukraine and advocated continued support. On X Mr. Musk wrote "You are a traitor." Senator Kelly posted separately: ""Traitor? Elon, if you don't understand that defending freedom is a basic tenet of what makes America great and keeps us safe, maybe you should leave it to those of us who do," wrote Kelly, whose recent trip marked his third visit to Ukraine since 2023."

Just when you thought it couldn't get any stranger...

Jesus H. ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Christ on a Pogo Stick! It's Cheetolini, Mush, the GQP, the entire administration and the 75,000,000 who support them who are the ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ traitors!

I have been accused of being doom and gloom, but compared to some of the people here I am freaking PollyANNA.
Of course this "we are doomed..and there is nothing we can do about it: plays right into Trump and Musk's hands, and is a wonderfu excuset to sit back and do nothing, but I guess that is a small price to pay for indulging in what seems like teen age angst extended forerver.

good idea.
The reason why the Government keeps propping up Corporate America is because so much institutional investment is tied up in the Dow Jones companies - if Tesla loses half its market value, that's bad news for many pension funds.

And yet I'd still get my pension. If things got to the point where I wouldn't get my pension in a state like North Dakota, then we're all ◊◊◊◊◊◊ anyway. I mean like ◊◊◊◊◊◊, ◊◊◊◊◊◊. There wouldn't be anything else that would be a better choice. Not 401k, not bonds, not nothing. If my pension ends up going up in smoke then everyone else is already ◊◊◊◊◊◊ beyond repair.

Pension Funds invest in Blue Chips, and Tesla is rated as such. And it might very well lose most of its evaluation in the next few years.

I'm not denying what you're saying. I'm saying that if the entire state of North Dakota, and indeed all of the other states, are dependent on Tesla staying afloat then we're all already ◊◊◊◊◊◊. That's my point.

I don't think that's the case. I like to think that, even if Tesla bites it, I'll still get my pension just fine.

It would appear that with a Trumpcession looming, investors who are professionally good at reading the tea leaves are getting out of Tesla as fast as they can. They don't rate its chances much with Elon at the wheel.
This is one of the few times I like the idea of naming stuff after him.
Trumpcession.
Trumpflation.
Trumplicans.
What others can you think of?
