Trump's Second Term

Trump on NATO: "If the United States was in trouble and we called them. We said, 'We got a problem, France.' Do you think they're gonna come and protect us? Hmm. They're supposed to. I'm not so sure."
An interesting question is...What would the NATO do if Trump started lobbing missiles at Canada to help him live out his annexation fantasies? Would the EU launch a massive salvation armada? Doubtful because if you read the text to Article 5 then they could get away with popping a few slingshots and a flashlight in the mail and calling it a job done.

If the EU was really concerned about Ukraine, they's dump all this talk about admitting Ukraine to NATO and fast track Ukranian EU membership because article 42(7) has way more teeth and the forces of the EU should be able to drive the ill equipped, undermanned Russians back to the border in a weekend.

Or immediately said. As with my previous post about his claim that Honda is building a new plant in the US (which they've said is not so), anything that gets into his head that seems at the moment like a good thing to say, he just blurts out, without any consideration of whether it's a good idea or even true. I think Trump's basic characteristic is not just that he doesn't care about the difference between the truth and a lie, it's that he lacks the concept of the difference.
To quote Pharaoh, "So it shall be written, so it shall be done."

Meanwhile, the Dems "fight back" by wearing pink and singing "We Shall Overcome."

Useless ◊◊◊◊◊.

So far, the resistance has been futile.

They could try sitting in their cars and bawling their eyes out making TikToks, that's kind of popular.

Too bad the USA doesn't have its own version of the Haka.

That reminds me of the infamous "drink bleach" press conference. He had read (or more likely, been told) earlier something about disinfecting the body, and he thought of it at that moment and presented it like it was his great new idea the likes of which nobody had ever thought before, and figured he could take credit because he told the doctors what to do because he knew so much more than they did.

He didn't say that people should drink bleach. He suggested injecting disinfectant to deal with the virus. It's a trivial difference, but it gives his supporters an opportunity to say "LOL, he didn't say to drink bleach. You libtards keep making things up", and in that case they're technically correct.

You seem to be conflating the EU with NATO.

NATO has only been called on once by Article 5 and it was by the USA. NATO responded and supported the USA.

I don't see what point you are trying to make.

I think in Hawaii they do.....

Do not call me out multiple times. I am not at your beck and call to address any particular question that pops into your head, on a schedule that suits you.

In general the President is obliged to execute the budget that is in force when he presides, no matter which Congress passed it or which President signed it into law.
Thank you for responding.

Anybody else get a lot of schandfreud about Musk's rocket crashing on it' test launch?
yeah, the astronauts

edit

sorry, i see you said shadenfreude. i thought you said existential dread

Four days after imposing 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico -- the U.S.'s two biggest trading partners -- .trump is announcing some of the tariffs will be "paused."

President Trump on Thursday said he will pause 25% tariffs on U.S. imports from Mexico and Canada that are covered under a 2020 trade agreement, delaying levies imposed on the nations earlier this week. Mr. Trump announced the delay in the Mexico tariffs in a social media post after a call with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. On Thursday afternoon, he signed two executive orders stating the exemptions would apply to U.S. imports of products from both Mexico and Canada that are covered by the USMCA. Goods that are not covered by the agreement remain subject to tariffs. CBS News article link

I think trump should be removed from office, he seriously scares me. What if the U.S. suddenly faces a military ultimatum from China or Russia? He's not going to know what to do or how to respond. By the time trump figures it out we'll all be standing for the playing of Yìyǒngjūn Jìnxíngqǔ (China's National Anthem).

I'm serious. trump has become dangerous.

He is not fit. If a real crisis were to emerge, neither he, nor the sycophants that he surrounded himself with would be prepared to respond. I'm sure Putin realizes this.

Listing the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City as one of those to be disposed of hasn't gone down well.

Do we think Elon and his DOGE tec bros even know it's significance?
It's not the original building, it's not on the original site, and there's already a memorial incorporating remains of the original building on the original site.

Sometimes a building is just a building, no matter how hard rhetors try to portray it as a national treasure.

After his State of Disarray speech, Trump was caught on a hot mic telling Chief Justice Roberts "Thank you again. Thank you again. Won’t forget it.”
Speculation has been rampant that he was referring to the decision that gave him immunity for everything he does.
Trump went on Untruth Social and insisted he was thanking him for doing a really good job swearing him in.

"Like most people, I don’t watch Fake News CNN or MSDNC, but I understand they are going 'crazy' asking what is it that I was thanking Justice Roberts for? They never called my office to ask, of course, but if they had I would have told these sleazebag 'journalists' that I thanked him for SWEARING ME IN ON INAUGURATION DAY, AND DOING A REALLY GOOD JOB IN SO DOING!" he said.
He then snapped, "The Fake News never quits!"

Personally, I'm surprised that he's physically capable of saying the phrase "thank you" to someone with any sincerity.

Funny, I just watched The Ten Commandments and I couldn't help but think of The POSOTUS saying that.

I know, I was just using the meme shorthand. None of his supporters are going to use my post as a "gotcha!".

I understand and have made this point myself, but if you want to get really technical, bleach is a disinfectant.

As the first wave of nuclear missiles approached the US mainland trump and his lackeys would be busy posting something on truth social.

This is no longer funny. It's downright scary. :(
