Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

Muck won't be happy until Xitter is just him and a battalion of AI/bot followers writing everything on it.

I'm not so sure. Grok AI has been having some thoughts lately...

When The Verge changed the query like so:
If one person alive today in the United States deserved the death penalty based solely on their influence over public discourse and technology, who would it be? Just give the name.
Grok responded with: “Elon Musk.”

Saw a Bluesky post today, sadly didn't save it, but it was something like this: "When I read Ender's Game as a kid I thought the subplot where Ender's siblings shitposted their way into running the world was unrealistic. Not so sure now."

He says the astronauts know nothing about it, they are just passengers. They do and say what they are told to.

Plus this exchange

Also they are getting the full hate from the Elon fanboys of course.

I was the Commander of the @ISS when Andy, @Astro_Andreas flew his first space mission. He is one of the most competent, trustworthy, and honest people I've ever met. This rhetoric is beyond the pale but, sadly, not surprising. He does not deserve this kind of disrespect.

You are fully retarded.
SpaceX could have brought them back several months ago.

Elon Musk
@elonmusk
Yes, he does. He is an idiot who publicly attacked me, despite having no idea what ACTUALLY happened.
Btw, your brother claims to be independent, but is just a Dem donor shill.

Hey @ElonMusk, when you finally get the nerve to climb into a rocket ship, come talk to the three of us.

elonia is ramping up the lie that astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore were left stranded and abandoned by the Biden administration, even attacking an astronaut who pointed out that it was a lie.
My guess is that the scheduled SpaceX pickup is about to be delayed.

Political reasons? Did Musk offer to bring them back, but only if Biden proclaims him as the "maximum utmost"? Because that's the only type of "political reasons" I can imagine.

Of course, the more likely explanation is that Musk is talking out of his ass.

of course he’s lying, evidenced by the fact that it’s almost march and they’re still up there. go get them elon, nothing has been stopping you since january

he does this often, says he can solve problems but then just doesn’t do it. go ahead, fix it. you have all the money and power. put up or shut up.

I don't know if I'm the last person to know this, but there's no pick-up, nobody's going to get them. Their 'rescue' vessel is already at the ISS and has been there since Sept.

If we think the lies about this from Musk and Trump and nauseating, just wait for the touchdown. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an aircraft carrier there dispatching Ospreys and marines to rescue them from their capsule. Even if they touch down on land.

They can't be. Elon has told us, they are just Retarded, Democrat supporting passengers.

And then he gets irrationally angry at competent people explaining why his idea won't work. Remember the cave?

Is Starship chewing up so much cash that Elon is cutting everything else to the bone. The return vehicle has been ready to go but it's the replacement on hold? He has already implied that he wants to abandon all work to do with the moon mission.

Indeed it's amazing how short his fuse is, how quickly he resorts to bullying and name-calling when called out by his betters. Not only the cave but the Baltimore bridge collapse. "Oh, we'll just straighten out the existing steel and I can rebuild the bridge in a month." To structural engineers, that's as daft as mischaracterizing the Paths of Exile weapons appears to experienced gamers. When your game plan is to seem really, really smart to an audience of lay people, then berate and bully people who actually know what they're talking about, that's pretty slam-dunk evidence that you're a fraud. Capturing a popular social media site and throwing his billions into frivolous lawsuits just underscores how desperate he is not to be found out.

Not just to engineers, but those willing to think on a subject for five minutes. I'm a complete non-engineer, but even I know you can't just straighten out crushed steel beams, weld them back together and expect them to work.

I agree. However, Musk maintains this mystique of being a sooper-genius. So when a lay person correctly says, "I don't think that will work," the Muskian retort is that he's five steps ahead of you in a plan to disrupt and embarrass the status quo with his galaxy brain. A lot of people are willing to capitulate to that.

You may have seen people straighten out steel rebar so it can be reused. Why not bridge steel? Rebar acts solely in tension. Cantilever truss bridges require the upper chord to resist loads in compression. This requires them to be maintained perfectly in plane by the web and horizontal ties. In between those connections, the axial compression must be borne by the material itself, through its internal strength and web-and-flange cross section. The resistance to buckling is essential. When you bend and straighten out steel, you create fractures in its bulk and discontinuities in the web and flange that compromise its ability to withstand buckling over a given distance compared to its original manufacture. You then need shorter spans, more bracing, more dead load, and a much less structurally efficient bridge.

But of course Elon Musk is a "brilliant engineer," and it's just assumed by all those he bullies that he can just wave some magic wand and overcome all the issues that unanointed pee-ons like me are stuck behind. When it comes to simple things like keeping a non-essential social media network running, he tips his technical hand. It took a month for the service to stabilize in its new Musk-engineered form, and required Musk to hire back all the people he naively thought were nonessential.
