Trump's Second Term

I'd dare say a large issue for European militaries has been the procurement process. At the moment there's a minor scandal brewing in the Danish military, over the purchase of a number of howitzers from Israeli company Elbit. First, it appears that the decision to buy them were a quid-pro-quo deal, where Elbit would drop a lawsuit against Denmark, in exchange for Denmark buying their howitzers. And second, said howitzers are apparenly using GPS systems that are vulnerable to jamming, meaning they'll have to be rebuilt or replaced.

Good thing we're going to bypass a lot of that bureaucracy the next few years.

Maybe we in Europe and the UK shouldn't have been so short-sighted and should have kept a full range of defence manufacturing capability rather than relying on the US for so much.

Of course those decisions go back decades -TSR2 for example.

True, but that also increases the risk of being sold the proverbial dummy. Given how bloody useless the Danish state has been at doing their due diligence in recent years, I'm expecting us to get ripped off on a grand scale.

There is a risk, but I think there will be a lot more public scrutiny.

So, now he's referring to himself as "The King" in official communications channels. Even as a joke, that's reprehensible.
It's only a matter of time before he starts 'joking' about sending Jews to the gas chambers, and 99% of the GOP will still give him a pass.

trump referred to himself as king in the context of announcing his administration would rescind the Biden era approval for Manhattan's Congestion Pricing. The plan has been implemented and is reportedly working well. trump posted on Truth Social this afternoon:

Related- Has anyone noticed that lately trump is often not bothering to color his hair? Below is an image snapped in the oval office three weeks ago. In addition to looking bleary-eyed and somewhat disoriented, trump's hair is white.

Trump is right about one thing; Europe is going have to spend a lot more on it's own defense then is has in the past if it wants to reaming free.
Problem is Europe has a hard core ignore reality Pacifist movement that might impeded that.
I am so angry at Trump's selling out the Ukraine I don't want to talk about it for fear of my being kicked off this site for NSFW language.

europe will have to do more than that. the same guys, like musk are spending a bunch of resources on electing a bunch of right wing loonies there too. america wasn’t exceptional, neither is europe. they’ll have to work to keep them out harder than we did

I did notice that! Could me numerous explanations... 1)The dye gave him brain cancer so he was told to lay off or die (pun-intended) 2)He realizes he is a buffoon and wants to look more king-like 3) He feels he has ultimate power now so need to appease anyone with appearances...im sure there are many other possibilities

donald trump is, ostensibly, the most powerful man on the planet. realistically, he’s beyond the need for money. he’s not in danger of being arrested anymore. historically, once he’s gotten what he wants from someone he drops them and rips them off.

so, why does he bow to putin? he lets putin insult him and does as he asks. why. what is the plausible reason besides putin has something damning on trump?

Yes, it was a bullet dodged by cancelling the TSR2. It would have been terrible in service. It seems to have taken on mythological proportions for some 'British is best' idiots though. Phantoms were a far better aircraft to have in service.

Apparently Donnie Dumpsterfire has blatted an unoriginal "He who saves his country can commit no crime!" He who? Hee hoo, he's trying to sound like a Floundering Father!

The original sentiment is attributed (doubtfully) to Napoleon, hardly a friend of popular government. But what does Donnie care about that? A minim? A scruple? A micron?

A dingleberry?

Seems low.
No no, you've got it wrong. It won't be the Jews, it will be someone else like those invading hordes who are all drug dealing rapists polluting the blood of greatness. And instead of the Romany maybe the Palestinians. And this time likely the well behaved homosexuals won't be rounded up with the transsexuals. And because it's a different out-group, the right wingers will be able to say "you see, it isn't the same at all!"

Cicero, referring to himself when he was Consul and the powers awarded to him in a Senatus Consultum Ultimum (final decree of the Senate) to put down the down the Catilinarian Conspiracy.
