Consciousness question

Wow...I may have to re-evaluate everything...is this evidence that Iacchus actually reads something besides Swedenborg? Ok, so it is somebody who also is unclear on the issues, but still...

It's obvious he's taking Swedenborg views and meshing them into the views of that site and trying to make it all work together.

Cool, I'll be looking for science articles on zero point fields.
Does the fact that the Google ads on that page are for colonic irrigations suggest a bit of what the page is full of?

Oh...re: science articles and 0-point stuff...one of our faculty members here, who has long been associated with the "discovery project", which collects the massive evidence that space aliens have been here, has finally quit his post at the University to start up a company, space energy access systems. They are looking to identify and test these systems, reverse-engineered from alien spacecraft, to replace our fossil and nuclear technologies in 20-30 years.

Yup. Colonic irrigation...

Man, did you look at the archive? Oh, this is soo great. I'm going to run some of these articles by some physics folks I know.

I agree. Still, for characters like Iacchus, we most state clear that one thing is to understand that we still dont have all the details.

And another, very different, is to jump from this to make any (absurd) declaration that we want!!!
Or, Iacchus could just be symptomatic of consciousness. If consciousness didn't exist, maybe Iacchus wouldn't be here? Why does that sound so absurd?

Iacchus. Sometimes, the only way to get around confusionsis to study. Maybe you should consider a course or set of courses in a school.
Yeah, it's too bad it's not all instinctual, like with animals. When's the last time you saw a shark go to school? But then again, you've gotta watch out for those hammerheads! :D

In both directions, it is an argument born of ignorance. If Planck can make an ignorant statement when speaking on something outside his area of expertise, just imagine the sorts of ignorant statements might be made by someone who actively avoids cultivating any areas of expertise in the first place! Oh, wait...you don't have to imagine.
I find nothing ignorant about that statement, to be honest. I guess it all depends on what side of the chasm you're standing on. ;)

I learn something new every day. Instinctual, huh? You sure you don't mean instinctive? Just kidding! :)

"I wanted to talk a little bit today about building a bridge between the world of science and spirit and I wanted to talk about myself as an example of such a bridge. In order to do that, you’ll need to know a little bit about me."

Is this where the "bridge" comments from earlier are coming from?

Iacchus, you could've just given us the links instead of you "pulling questions out of a hat routine".

No, sorry guys, I'm not the least bit familiar with this site. Of course I haven't taken a look at it, yet. Oh, and this "building the bridge" thing, I pretty much pulled it out of my hat when I said it.

Rrrrrright.

So, did you make this statement based on having looked up Libet's experiment? Or do you make this statement in an attempt to dismiss it without having even examined it?
Who's Libet?

Oddly enough, the most predictable, most automaton-like person here is you, Iacchus. It makes sense, though--the more simple the environment, the more simple the behaviors, and you have avoided adding any new information to your environment. If you are not going to allow yourself to learn, you will persist in the same behaviors...as you do.
How about that? Testable and verifiable. Maybe I am getting across? :D
