Ed The Fascism Checklist, Trump 2025

And in state media news . . .

In a precedent-setting move, Fox News will announce on Wednesday that the president’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump will host her own weekend show, which will debut later this month.

The New York Times first broke the news.

While the incestuous nature between the conservative cable giant and Donald Trump’s White House is no secret, as nearly 20 former Fox News employees were tapped to be part of the president’s new administration, there is really no criterion for a relative of a sitting president to be hosting a cable news show. That is, until now.

The program shared a full unedited transcript of the Harris interview with the FCC this week and posted it online, saying it shows “consistent with 60 Minutes’ repeated assurances to the public – that the 60 Minutes broadcast was not doctored or deceitful.”

“In reporting the news, journalists regularly edit interviews – for time, space or clarity,” the show said. “In making these edits, 60 Minutes is always guided by the truth and what we believe will be most informative to the viewing public – all while working within the constraints of broadcast television.”

Trump is separately suing CBS News for $10 billion over the Harris interview, arguing in legal filings the news outlet engaged “partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference through malicious, deceptive, and substantial news distortion.
Donnie Diapers is determined to silence any and all opposition to his administration by filing lawsuits against his perceived enemies in the legacy (and others) media. ABC has already caved.

DD wants the FCC to pull CBS's license.

Of course, CBS does not have a license. Those are granted to local stations.

Just a comment: thehill.com is one horrible web site. I had to turn off ALL my ad blockers just to view the article. It had a damned autoplay video, too, which for some reason people actually tolerate. Screw them. I have added thehill.com to my blacklist of sites never to visit again.

18. Take control of the judiary.

I wonder why we forgot this essential item during the first brainstorm. It has started …

if Weimar is any guide, it won't take much to take over the Judiciary: either they will fall in line eagerly, or they will stay in the mistaken belief that without them, things will get worse, so better to play along.

Yes, you are right.

All dictatorships try to keep up appearances by having actual trials, even when it is the great leader who has decided the verdict in advance, so I don’t think Trump/Musk will ignore judges, but they will go after errant judges.

I believe that the individual judges will have to pass an unofficial loyalty test, and those that pass will be used to cow the others with trials of corruption and misdemeanour.

Lets not forget that for the average German citizen in the 1930's not much of their daily life changed under Hitler.
As long as you were not a Jew, a known Communist or critic of the regime things went along as normal.
The police still treated you normally, there was more order in the streets (as the Nazis stopped picking fights), inflation lessened (due to other factors, but Hitler eagerly accepted responsibility) and Germany was being made Great Again, especially with the return of the Reinland and the Anschluss.
It's shocking to me to see the playbook of the Nazi powergrab being almost copied one on one in the US and how little there were actual protections of democratic institutions. Just replace Jew with Immigrant and Communist with DEI/Woke.

It was only once those institutions had been replaced with hardcore loyalists, as is happening in the US now, that people learned that suddenly their rights ment nothing the moment they got accused of being the wrong group.

One counter argument I've seen Trump voters give is 'but no rights have vanished'. No. Not yet. But the instutions that protect those rights are rapidly being transformed into a toothless yes machine or removed, and once they are gone it will be too late.

I guess the biggest difference between Hitler and Trump at this point is that Trump is not going to institute massive work programs and universal employment to make the lives better of the majority of Americans not belonging to a targeted group.

And it would appear for some of our Trump supporters that their point of disagreement in saying Trump acts in a similar way to Hitler and other dictators is that there aren't gas chambers and other methods of mass execution underway.

Yet....

(not that he would be opposed to such methods, he was dead keen on sending innocent black teenagers to their deaths after all...)

Even decades later- despite them being found innocent- he STILL thinks (lol- as if) they should have been killed...

Like seeing a kid walk menacingly towards a high school with an assault rifle and saying "nah, can't be a school shooter, I haven't seem him shoot a single person". Love it when they have to resort to the most outlandish moon logic to defend their cult leader. Funny, scary, and pitiful at the same time.

I doubt he'll use gas chambers. More likely he'll work them to death in labour camps, as cheap/free labour. He can make a profit from that.

Reporter banned from Oval Office event over editorial decision not to use 'Gulf of America,' AP says

The Associated Press on Tuesday said the White House barred its reporter from an event at the Oval Office because the news agency would not start using "Gulf of America" to describe the Gulf of Mexico.

A statement said an AP reporter was not allowed to attend the signing of an executive order in the afternoon. U.S. President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, who is in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), were at the event.

Later, a second AP reporter was barred from a late-evening event in the White House Diplomatic Room.

What a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Banana Republic.

Installed a Russian asset as head of intelligence. How are the Nazi apologists going to excuse this?
