You know what I don't accept as being dictatorial? Cutting government spending and reducing the size of government. It's really not on brand.

You're thinking (or pretending to think) that Trump would never do any of those things.

Which should make it easy for you to agree and say YES, Trump doing any of those things would be crossing a line, making him dictatorial, and inviting apt comparison to Hitler.

So say it. And hopefully we'll never reach a day when someone has to dredge up this post and ask you why you changed your mind about it.

So what do you say? Are you willing to stake out, in advance, that these things would be the actions of a dictator? Or do you want to keep your options open so you don't look gullible if Trump tries or succeeds in doing any of these things?

That's just it. It doesn't look like a duck. Saying it looks like a duck won't make it look like a duck.

Dictatorships don't reduce the size of government. That's not what they do, that's not how they operate. You're trying to say that fur and nipples are avian.

You really aren't that short-sighted, are you?? You do realize that in order to build their own centralized control, dictators have to first purge the bureaucracy that is already in place. That's "How to be a dictator 101"! And that is exactly what the oligarchs are doing here--purging the system of people who would be their opposition in order to *replace* it with their loyalists. Your knowledge of dictatorships seems to be very shallow. Implementing loyalty tests, purging the opposition, supporting violent allies, threatening or silencing the press--*these* are the marks of a dictatorship and Trump 2.0 is checking off all the boxes. If Elon and/or Trump could exercise complete and total control with an army of two they certainly would, but obviously they are going to need the army on their side, which is why the Defense budget is the only thing they aren't trying to cut.

You purge the people. You don't eliminate the positions, you put your people into the same positions.

You are insisting that Trump is cutting government spending and reducing the size of government before we have a full accounting of everything he’s doing. We’re not even a month in and as already pointed out, we’re still in the “purge” phase.

People like Ziggurat are showing an awful nonchalance at the possibiliy that enemy foreign agents are being inserted into their government (and with both Trampy's and Galaxy Brain's known collaborations with Putain, that's a probability not a possibility), almost as if they want the country's enemies running the show.
